The Market is Not Great for Jamal, Good or Bad or Whatever?

Seems like Jamal is getting 1 year offers, A 1 year 2.5 mill offer, or a offer from a team that probably will not make the playoffs.

The market is not so great for Jamal and I am somewhat surprised but not too much. The amnesty clause and straight up cuts to players like Rip Hamilton along with younger guys like Afflalo and Nick Young still being available makes it not a great market for a guy like Jamal who has a rep for playing no D.

The question is how much do we care at this point? We could offer him some portion of the mid level and go into luxury. We could try making moves to clear space to pay him bigger and better but Sund has proven incompetent at such. The biggest question is, is he even worth it at this point?

If we made other moves in addition to resigning Jamal, then maybe. But with a coach that likes to play him out of position at the point and no other major moves it would be paying luxury tax for the status quo. If we were fighting for the championship that might be a worthwhile move, but the team is middle of the playoff pack.

The other issue I have is that when the defense cranked up in round 2 Jamal was completely overwhelmed. He's fun to watch, but isn't getting us further into postseason.

I would say there's interest perhaps in a lower level S and T. If the offers he's receiving are for 2/10m (Indiana), I think in L.A. we'd like to have him and would give you guys a couple seconds plus a part of a larger TPE. He'd be a nice fit next to a guy like Blake who can play off of him and we need bench scoring.

All three teams - Blazers, Kings and Knicks - are offering Crawford a one-year deal. He wants to test free agency again next summer.

I really think if the best he is going to get is $2.5 we should offer because cost of living around here is better than any of those places he probably would just take it. He would give us a real good trade chip along with Kirk's expiring around the trade deadline. I am all for it at this point but I understand going over luxury is the unforgiven sin.

The Blazers and Kings are offering deals around 5 mil. The Knicks are the only team who have offered 2.5.

Also, no sales tax in Portland. Plus he already lives in Seattle, so he's a close commute to Portland, which kind of shoots down your "cost of living" theory.

According to Crawford's own twitter, it looks like he's already resigned to the fact that he's not going back to the Hawks.

Kind of but not really. Atlanta housing could be that much cheaper than Portland's housing that it makes up for it, but if he already has a house and doesn't feel bothered by a commute everyday that he is home you could be correct.
