AL Jefferson and Devin Harris

Post#1 » by myrak433 » Wed Jan 4, 2012 9:09 pm

I wish we could get these two from Utah. We need people that can score inside...... Jefferson does this well and Harris get inside when ever he want's to. Teague can as well the difference is Harris is a better finisher once he gets inside. not sure what it would take to get them but as long is it isn't Smith do it.

I personally don't get how much love Harris or Big Al get around here, but either could be had for cheap. Harris was about to be dumped by NJN before the Deron deal, and UTH has been shopping Harris since he landed there to no avail. UTH got Big Al for a TPE and what amounts to 3 late 1sts - if anything his value has dropped since then. I think UTH is ready to move on to their young players (Favors, Kanter, Burks, Hayward and what could be 2 lotto picks this year) and everyone else could be had even with the scant current resources that we've got on our roster (outside of the players who actually play).

What it would take to land either of them is an owner (or group of owners) willing to pay the LT - which we don't have.

Last year at the trade deadline we tried to get devin harris. He was our first option and hinrich was the fall back plan. We almost had him but utah insisted he be included in the deron williams trade. Devin harris is a great defender and a good point guard. Right now teague is a better fit for the team cause he is younger, and cheaper. Now the jazz would trade Al jefferson. Right now he is in the way of dereck favors and kanter. I believe and josh smith should do it

I believe with my whole heart that we could get Al Jefferson for Zaza and Kirk but I also believe with my whole heart that the front office does not want that added salary. Never thought I would be saying this but I don't think I would give up Marvin and Zaza for him right now, but that would even the salaries out to where we would not have to go into luxury. Next, Devin Harris may be better than Teague at the moment but he is not showing it on the court. Don't see why would trade for him considering it would take us into luxury also unless we gave up too much for him. Finally, never knew that Devin Harris was a great defender until reading this particular thread.

As a Jazz fan I would bein favor of a trade of Raja Bell, Al Jefferson for Kirk Hinrich Marvin Williams and Zaza. Saves you guys around 3-4 million this year. At this point I dont think Raja is more then a 8 min spot player, he cant score at all but still plays decent team D.

oh good grief, i'm so sick of these Jefferson and Devin post. it seems like every year their are ten of them.

trade Kirk for Kaman and that gives the Hawks more rebounding against the Heat and gives the Hawks more depth at center to go against the Bulls depth at center.

There are more chances we trade for Kaman than for Jefferson regading the two offers.

Why ? because Kaman is expiring like Hinrich, and can plays this season and leave ATL without tax next season.
With Jefferson, if Hinrich is included, we are set to pay tax next season, and it won't happen.

If there's a slim chance ASG would agree to pay tax, it won't be for Jefferson, who like Love, made fantastic stats, but did not show he can help his team winning.

Hinrinch will be traded for a non-expiring contract only if we get a guy that sells tickets AND makes the team really better, without any doubt.
That's how ASG is, and it's even not sure they would do it if they could ;)

I think it'd take a decent amount for us to acquire Al Jefferson or Devin Harris. I prefer to stick with Jeff Teague instead of pursing Devin Harris. I like the idea of Al Jefferson ($15 million per yr) inside on offense but we shouldn't pursue him strongly.

I would love to have Al Jefferson's post offense and I don't think he has ever played on a team that would be as good as what we could put on the floor, but the salaries don't match up. He makes $14,000,000 this year and $15 next year. Sending Marvin and Zaza would still mean we are taking on $1.5 million more salary and that may put us over luxury this year but we would be fine next year and we would not have a backup C other than Jason Collins whom I am not sure they want to play every day.

Teague
Joe
Josh
Al
Al

Is intriguing

Kirk
Willie
Tracy
Vlad
Collins

Not bad honestly but we would have a gap at backup C unless they trust Collins like that.
