I'd trade Zaza and Hinrich for Okafor especially in the situation we're in right now; but I would by no means give away our 2012 draft pick for anything short of a steal right now especially not for Okafor; I'd rather tank the season and be in the Lotto of an absolutely stacked draft class than to give away our 2012 and maybe even still miss the playoffs. It's terrible whenever Al gets hurt but if he was to suffer a season ending injury any year this is the year because of the draft class.

i agree , as bad as this is for this season if the hawks do miss the playoffs maybe they can get a true center in this years draft .

This is bad and good.

The bad is lotto here we come.
+
Sund is horrible at making moves. Hopefully he does not make a trade because he has proven to be incompetent at such.
+
Other than Drummond who says he is not coming out there is no C worth taking in the lotto.

The good is lotto here we come.

+ It does not matter how bad Teague is now he will get a chance to learn because we aren't going anywhere anyway.

Any pick in this draft of course would have to be protected and from and outsiders view I think your team is way too talented to not make the playoffs.

I can't see Atlanta willing to take on Gooden's deal, especially for a guy who likely would still be our 5th big.

While I appreciate the deal suggestions we are talking about a team very adverse to taking on salary, so Gooden or Okafor's salary probably isn't getting ownership approval. If nothing else I think they'd wait a couple weeks to see if they can tread water before making a move. If the team can still compete without Al then I think they become more likely to go into luxury tax for the short term to help the team. Although I don't think it will be a trade. It could be a March addition of Kenyon Martin when his contract in China expires. The Hawks have the MLE to work with.

If the team can't compete without Al then the likelihood of a trade is greater. However it could either be a trade to help save the season or a fire sale on Josh Smith who will be entering the final year of his deal. It really depends on how the owners see the team's window to compete. Again too early to tell.

Bad news for you guys. But no way in hell are you a lottery team even without Horford. This is the East where going 33-33 will get you in playoffs 100%. If you are looking for a big Diaw is always available. If Hinrich wasn't injured you could trade straight up for him, maybe add a top 20 protected first and you have a deal.

Diaw is not worth giving up a pick for. Sund is incompetent though so he would probably do it

Without Horford the entire dynamic of the Hawks' game changes, I expect Joe to go iso like he did before, this is a team full of selfish players like Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, now they'll feel like they have to do more without Horford, I have a feeling that if I'm right and I think I am this team won't be at 500 by season's end, I really hope for the lotto it would take this team out of basketball hell.

This sucks big time... short season... vital piece of our team down for 3-4 months... God knows how he's going to come back... guess this might be the beginning of the end of these Hawks together...

The worst part of the injury is the fact that he might not come back the same, but it's better to be a torn pec than a torn ACL, I'm not as worried as I would be if it was a knee or leg injury; and anyone who gets a knee injury often reinjures that same knee.

I must add that this is also a chance to once again prove the talking heads wrong.

They love people like Kevin Love that puts up stats on bad teams. Now let's see how they can utter the words role players by Joe Johnson and Josh Smith while they put up big numbers on a winning team then claim Love is the best PF and a star while putting up big numbers on a loser.

To put it more clear this is a chance to prove that our trade chips are indeed very valuable and should not be given away unless there is a upgrade coming.

Please see the linked thread for updated thoughts from Milwaukee.

Add Bogut and Horford to the mix. You get the win now piece that you need. (Atlanta seems to be in win now mode)

Any updates on his rehab, surgery, or injury? Soryr I don't follow the Hawks but I'm just monitoring him for Fantasy League purposes.

Sorry to see you guys lose your big man, I really like Horford. Consistant guy plays hard and doesn't seem to have an attitude.

Horford had surgery on Tuesday. So 3 to 4 months would put him back for the last 5-10 games at the earliest.

I'd be psyched as long as he makes it back for the Playoffs; everyone here knows that the regular season doesn't matter just ask the 07 Mavs, or last year's Spurs; everything is on the line come playoff time.

The positive stuff about Al's injury is that it is forcing key players to redefine their role
e.g. JJ to score or Smoothe (and Zaza with his added PT) to rebound and drew to rotate his players off the bench e.g Tmc, Pargo, Vlad and Green while also providing development time for Ivan.

I was thinking that they were one injury away to tank the season when they are actually one player away (Hinrich) to get deeper... and stronger for (and if) al comes back for the PO!
