Is there a psychologist in the house?

Post#1 » by parson » Thu Mar 8, 2012 3:40 am

Please, Marvin Williams haters, stay away. I know you despise him already.

I want to ask who saw the 2 plays - early in the 3rd - where Marvelous exploded on consecutive possessions. He was fast; he was quick; he moved with determination and purpose. AND HE SCORED BOTH TIMES.

Then, he went back into his shell.

Does anyone have a theory as to why he does this? How can a man turn it on and then turn it off like that? Can someone tell me what is going on inside his head?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Its simply. He is whiney.

If you watch Marvin will be explosive constantly until he goes a few plays without touching the ball. Then he seems to get pissy and stop trying. Basically the Randy Moss syndrome where if you are throwing him the ball you have a guy running a 4.3 and out jumping everyone. but if you ignore him too long he jogs.

On one hand I understand it can be frustrating to be constantly running along the baseline and trying to spring open only to pop and not get the ball but on the other, man the hell up dude.

I've asked myself this question for years. I have a theory tat the day marvin becomes a 1st or second option on offense, he will explode outta his shell. He just deferrs too much. It's just not his personality to demand and dominate the ball.

Actually, with JJ, McGrady and Horford out....why ISN'T Marvin our 2nd option?

If wer're gonna lose/struggle, let's at least see what Marvin and Teague bring to the table, right? Since that's our Big Three for the time being.

Thing is, Marvin USED to explode when Joe went down because Woodsons entire offense was a bunch of Iso's so he would run Iso-Marvin and Marvin would respond. Joe would come back and he would be "Stand over there and wait for the ball" guy.

The sad thing is, unless he gets traded, I think we are watching a NBA career waste away here. I think Marvin is easily a 20-7 guy on a team where he is allowed to play basketball. Right now, he runs the offense by the books, and I honestly sometimes think its a form of protest out of him. He needs to grow up and be more aggressive, but honestly, there is a crybaby at the start 2 and 4 if they don't get their touches too.

I agree with everything you just said RIP.

Marvin reminds me a bit of Shawn Marion and if he had been on a more offense oriented team or a team with a pure pass first PG, I can see 20-7 outta him pretty consistently.

I wonder if the Knicks would be interested in Marvin ( and JJ?) and getting rid of Carmelo.
