Atlanta Hawks: NBA admits blown call in Game 6 (plus notes)
http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2012/05/11/atlanta-hawks-nba-admits-blown-call-in-game-6/?cxntfid=blogs_hawks

" During the last two minutes of the fourth period or overtime,
if a personal foul is assessed against the defensive team prior to
the ball being released on a throw-in, it is considered an
Away-From-The-Play Foul and the offensive team is awarded one
free throw and possession of the ball. With 3.1 seconds remaining
in the the Boston-Atlanta game last night, a foul was called on
the Celtics’ Marquis Daniels after the Hawks’ Marvin Williams had
released the ball and therefore the foul was correctly treated as
a common foul and not an Away-From-the-Play foul. With that said,
however, the replay shows that the foul on Daniels should have
been called sooner than it was by the officials, in which case it
would have met the requirements of an Away-From-The-Play Foul. "

The Daniels/Horford foul happen twice. Life happens and nobody is asking for special treatment, but i do thank the NBA for the acknowledgement. I don't believe the refs had malicious intent but it was brief incompetence and I do appreciate the NBA being humble and transparent

League is fixed to a certain extinct. They know who they will give preferential treatment to before the game.

NBA did us a favor when they actually suspended Rondo for Game 2. That's when we should've taken advantage of them.

Though, I must admit that the disparity in free throws in Game 6 betweenC's and hawks was...disheartening.

What the hell are you talking about, the refs handed game 2 over to the Celtics and Paul Peirce. the refs GAVE Pierce like 20 free throws in game 2 on a crap load of BS foul calls.

We were up 11 in that game when Josh went out in the 3rd and never recovered. I honestly felt Pierce deserved his foul shots in that game. He was just being aggressive as hell.

Yeah right Teague went to the rack 3 times in a row Thursday when Boston made there run and got no FT's. Al and Josh went numerous times and got no freebies. Joe goes at the end of the game and gets no freebies. Your feelings are just that, feelings but if you watch the game you would no that plenty of guys were not getting rewarded for being aggressive. So, why should Pierce be the only one getting rewarded for that?

Oh I was just saying that Pierces free throws were valid.

The refs took Teague out of the series with all the no calls on his drives. He should have been to the freethrow line 6-8 times a game.

I'm still mad at people calling Pierces "block" a great play on Joe at the end of game 6. He didn't even touch the ball. Not a piece of it.

Sometimes, I think you disagree and antagonize out of sheer boredom.

Let's just agree to disagree. It was the right call for the NBA to suspend Rondo.

The referees (a separate entity from the NBA League Offices in NY) did have some questionable calls and no calls.

But with Rondo out, we have to shoot better than 35% for the game and 21% in the final quarter. Josh Smith got injured and the team fell apart offensively.

Yes, but in that game, they simply wouldn't call the foul for the driving Hawks. that 21% was for "missed shots".

I wish someone would compile a video of all teagues drives to the hoop in this series. The guy got murdered going to the rim and they simply would never call the foul for him.

I am still bitter. I am wondering how long will it take for this to get out of my system.
