Portland rumored to be interested in LD

Post#1 » by td00 » Wed May 16, 2012 12:59 pm

Is it possible? Will the ASG really let him go after his 1st round loss?

I really can't get excited until it's in stone. But Portland would really bring in a guy that is similar to their previous coach, McMillan?

Nah....

LD isn't similar to Nate, if anything it would be him replacing another coach similar to Woody.

If LD leaves for another job, I think the ASG go cheap again, and our current players would have to learn another system. I have mixed feelings but it also depends on who our future coach would be.

If LD leaves, and a few changes are done, I will be more than happy. If Sloan is our man, I will be really happy. I am sure he is a coach that can minimize mistakes and lack of quality (sometimes) and maximize abilities.

He could make Josh a real star, he could force JJ into a player who is unstopable and wants to be unstopable, not just shoot 25 times and avoid winning games.

I was reviewing the 6th game and, referees apart (it was a shame how they behaved), there were times when McGrady was the real leader, the player who knew what to do, the man with IQ, with knowledge, the player who created mismatches all the time. JJ was just out there playing, but not being decisive. Just a pity TM played so little, and got missued the second half of the season. All the time he produces and is a headache for the opposing team.

There is one other option that might happen: "Czar" Mike Fratello

Mike was with the Hawks during the glory years of the 80's and he would be a good coach that gets respect and a very good X's and O's type of guy. He is a possibility

But I know one thing, if ASG goes the cheap route again and alienated this fan base, they will never recover and the next thing we will talking about is the Hawks moving to Atlanta to somewhere else.

His name is mentioned on this board every off-season.

I don't know if Fratello is ready to jump back into coaching. He has the TNT gig and is also the analyst for the Nets. The latter might be an exciting venture for him with their move to NY if they can get their **** together roster wise.

The betterment of the Hawks starts at the top. Until the ASG get out of the basketball business and hire a guy who demands exceptionalism, we are going to be a Sund-led 1st or 2nd round non-entity in this NBA.

NOTE to the ASG: Move out Sund and his 2nd place exec of the year award...(what a crock!) and send LD looking for employment so he can coach his son at UCLA.

It's time the city of Atlanta had a REAL NBA coach that knows how to achieve greatness. There are plenty of options and this shouldn't be decided based on minimum costs.

Once the GM is done and a coach that can convince our guys they can beat anyone any night, then we work on the roster and get a more balanced approach. Joe is our leader and he's paid to be our leader. But he leads us to a max of 6 playoff wins each year. In all the years Joe has been here, along with Josh, Al, Marvin, Zaza and Collins, the best we can do is win 6 playoff games.

We have yet to beat a team better than us.

I cosign your post. Especially the part about us not beating a team better than us. Not doing so leads me to think the whole team has confidence issues when it comes to what they can accomplish as a unit which is why you get so much unnecessary one on one, and no Orlando was not better than us they simply had 1 player that could basically beat us by himself if we played him wrong.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
