OT: Josh Childress Placed On Amnesty Waivers By Suns

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Jul 15, 2012 10:08 pm

The Suns have used their amnesty clause on Josh Childress.

Phoenix placed a successful bid on amnesty waivers for Luis Scola and are believed to be creating additional cap space to sign O.J. Mayo.

Childress signed a five-year, $33.5 million with the Suns in 2010. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... rs_By_Suns

Josh Childress has had a good career at finding ways to make money. Wow!

I'm okay with Childress coming back to the Hawks on a one year contract. he is still good friends with Smoove and Dwight. he is a good defensive SF and a good offensive rebounding SF with an above average jump shots. he doesn't make mistakes, but he just can't create for himself or others.

Since when have Childress and Dwight been friends?

Hawks have other options and look to starting Childress or Korver as a last resort.

If nobody bid on him, I'm ok with him coming back for the min.

The friends part threw you and not the above average jumpshot part?

you really forgot about Chil's game that fast? Chil has an ugly jump shot like Marion, but i remember when he was a Hawk, he knocked down alot of long jump shots if he was wide open, Chil as a Hawk shot, 370FG% from three (.550FG% overall)

do you have any proof that Chil didn't have an above average jump shot? :o

Last season he shot .167% from 3 and the season before that he shot .063% the year before, his jumpshot isnt that good anymore

i didn't watch any suns game last year, i only follow the Hawks. athleticism goes away, but jump shot doesn't go away. he was a good 3pt shooter in greece, he probably had a hard time adjusting to limited playing time and the suns system (Chil only attempted 16 threes for a whole season). but his FG% as a sun was still decent, above .500%

sunskerr wrote:He wasn't really that awful when he played. He was stuck behind Hill and Dudley. And now that the Suns have Beasley there was just no point in paying him 6-7m per year to be the 3rd string SF.

You are a glaring example of someone who never saw Chills play and can only read a basic boxscore stat. He's never attempted more than 77 3s in a season which indicates.......he can't shoot unless he's absolutely wiiiiiiiiiiide open. Al shot 50% from three 2 seasons ago. Boom, proof he is a great 3point shooter....oh wait, only 4 attempts? Naw, that means nothing, he can stroke the longball, he shot 50%!

The point (in case you missed it) is that he never had a high enough volume of jumpshots to indicate that he could actually shoot. Given his release and form it's not surprising that he was a reluctant shooter. Want proof of that?

Check out his shot locations. Chills achieved a high overall FG% because he rarely attempted a shot outside of 2 feet. He used to mine stats by relentlessly attacking the offensive glass for putbacks and leaking out early for transition buckets. Great for him but terrible for floor balance thus why we let him go and improved, Olypiacos ran every dirty trick in the book to get him to opt out of a contract they regretted and after signing with Phoenix (where his agent was the GM) he was promptly benched and now amnestied.

Dude's a one dimensional bum with the skillset and athleticism of a PF in the body of a wing.

The hawks are interested in him or delfino. Getting him would make 14 players. And benson making the team would make 15.

this is a dumb post. if Josh Childress comes here and plays well. why wouldn't you root for him?
