I'm a wolves fan who would take Horford and his fiery competitiveness over Love and his competitive douchebageness.
Do you think Kahn and Danny Ferry can strike a deal here?

It's possible he might consider it next season if we strike out in the free agent market. Love produces big numbers.
But AL is on a great contract, is a consummate professional and is kind of the face of our franchise.
Not sure trading AL for Kevin Love improves us enough to warrant the move.
You guys got any interest in an undersized PF who pouts and take bad shots....Josh Smith for Love might be a more likely move on our end.
Smith and AL have similar production....

But Smith is a free agent and there's no way Love is going for a guy who can leave wherever he wants this coming summer. If by any chance you get Howard this summer Love makes more sense for you than Horford because of his outside shooting.

take what Jamaaliver says with a grain of salt. he is an advid Horford Fan. I don't believe ( I could be wrong) their is a player in the League that Jamaaliver would trade Horford for........ maybe Lebron or Durrant that is about it. to add Jamaaliver wants to trade Josh Smith for anything.
but I do agree with him I am not sure I would do a Love for Horford trade either. Not because it is an unfair trade. but because I feel we would have to add some value to this trade , also I do not feel that Love would make us any better than having Hoford. since I feel Love best position is PF and adding value to a trade that will not make us a better team makes no since at all to me. If love was a true center then I would be all over this trade.
no I would rather just keep what we have a see if we can get Dwight this summer. keep Hoford (who is a good mid-range shooter him self) and Josh Smith. and all our draft picks.

I'd need to know for sure that Kevin Love wants to play for Atlanta and intends on being a Hawk longterm. I doubt that's the case so Ferry would need to proceed with caution.

Re: Kevin Love
If we can extend him and re-sign Josh Smith, then it's a done deal. Love would give us a 1st option guy, something Horford isn't. Don't even see why Minny does the trade unless they think Love doesn't want to be there.

????? he is already on contract for two more years after this season is over with a player option on the third year. that is long enough for this type of trade. the thing that I do not like about this trade is Love makes a good bit more than Horford and I do not feel moving Horford out and bring Love in would make us any better. infact I believe would would suffer on the defensive side of the ball as well as our transition offense. now I believe our half court offense would get substantially better. but would that extra money disable the Hawks in obtaining both Chris Paul and Howard? Love to me is not worth all of that.

Re: Kevin Love
The player option is what's the committment problem. We trade Horford, who is locked in longer for a guy who may not want to be here and has a PO.

Re: Kevin Love
I'd put out a Horford + Jenkins + HOU's 1st on the table for Love. Over the last 5 years, a lot of fans/posters/etc have had a pretty wild concept of what our "ideal" C would be: a floor spacing 3PT shooter, a dominant rebounder, a wide body who can defend the post 1-on-1. Kevin Love can do all these things (well, the low post D is probably closer to average than good, but everything else is elite or pretty close to it). If you talk about someone who'd be the ideal C complement to Smoove, Kevin Love should be within the first few names you spit out. I always been a believer that if we had to trade one of Smoove or Horford, then it'd have to be Smoove since it'd just be too hard to complement Smoove... but if Love is on the table, then all that changes.
One other misconception: Kevin Love would most definitely be better for our transition game than Horford - at least in so far as how the team is composed today. One of the forgotten needs for a running team is having a dominant rebounder under the boards - Horford is good in this area but far from dominant. If you don't have a dominant presence down there, then the wings have to crash the boards to ensure you're not giving up second chance points. Moreso than Woody's iso style and LD being a little too much of a player's coach, our lack of fast break points has more to do with the fact that we've had to be "scrappy" under the boards moreso than dominant. Love changes that and allows our wings to get out ahead on the break.
