Player of the Game

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Sat Dec 29, 2012 5:55 pm

Great game to beat Kyrie and the Cavs behind a 27-14 4th quarter, this thread is late but better late than never.

Josh Smith (7)
Al Horford (6)
Kyle Korver (2)
Zaza Pachulia (1)
Devin Harris (1)

Notes: Al Horford recorded another double double with no Varejao stopping him, 14 points on 6-11 shooting is very solid and 11 rebounds is just what we wanna see from Al. Great game from him as he's not sown any signs of that rather unfortunate slump he had;

Jeff Teague went off in the first quarter with 14 points, he finished with a career high 27 points and what people aren't talking about with Teague last night was that he had 8 assists which is just what a good PG should be doing even if he scores 30, he should still be distributing the ball, very impressive from Teague tonight;

Lou Williams got burned by Kyrie on defense, but I can give him a pass because it's Kyrie Irving who can't be stopped when he gets going, Lou on the offensive side did very well as a starter again: he had 16 points on 6-12 shooting and he finished with 5 rebounds, Lou has been hot as a starter for us these past few games, Lou however does need to cut down on his turnovers: he had 5 tonight which is not nice to see;

The surprise of the night was Anthony Tolliver providing the unlikeliest of sparks off the bench: he had a stretch in the 2nd quarter where he sparked our team going 4-4 and getting 10 points, he finished the night with 13 points on 5-7 shooting and 4 rebounds, he's on the list for giving us some firepower off the bench.

Just missed the cut:
Josh Smith: I was not gonna put him over Tolliver just because he's the great Josh Smith, the only reason he didn't completely miss the cut was because he had 6 rebounds 6 assists, and 5 blocks. He however shot only 2-12 for an abysmal 7 points and totaled 5 turnovers which is awful for a big man.

Teague had a career night last night. Walking that fine line between being an agressive scorer and still distributing/sharing the ball. Glad he was up to the task of matching Kyrie's big night.

AL is back on track after that rough week. In the last 7 days he's avg 19 pts and 10 rbs with three straight double-doubles.

Nice to see Josh respond well to that talk with LDrew about his shot selection. He immediately comes out putting up long jumpers and turning the ball over carelessly. Glad we're building the team around him.

Nice to see a guy like Anthony Tolliver have a big night like that. Way to pick up the slack with Ivan out, buddy.

Lou likes starting. He struggles defensively against big 2-guards, and quick PGs, and pretty much anyone with a pulse. But he's an elite scorer. So glad we got him for such a bargain.

Hope Devin gets well soon, we could use a steady hand in the backcourt when the offense stalls.

POG was clearly Teague, but I voted for A Tolliver tonight as this was probably his only chance for the season.

It must have killed you to go the past month without being able to slam Josh.

lol. A little bit. :D

What's ironic, is that no one bothers to post on this board most days unless it's to condemn or defend J-Smoove.

It only seems like that because you make a measly attempt to slam Josh every day.

The last two Player of the Game Threads had a total of 1 comment. (This one and the Post-Detroit POG threads.)

Now, there are more. All in repsonse to my J-Smoove comments. Anything it takes to get this board going again.

This place is so dead nowadays. Disappointing considering how well the team is playing this season.
