Player of the Game

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Sun Dec 30, 2012 7:28 am

2 games, 2 Player of the game threads: this win pushes our record to 6-1 in the 2nd of back to back games. Also with the recent shortcomings for the Knicks and the Miami loss tonight we have the same amount of losses as 2nd place New York and only have 1 more loss than the top Ranked Heat. Good win with no Josh tonight

Josh Smith (7)
Al Horford (6)
Kyle Korver (2)
Zaza Pachulia (1)
Devin Harris (1)
Jeff Teague (1)

Notes:
Lou Williams was a two-dimensional player tonight, he was scorer and facilitator tallying 21 points on 7-17 shooting to go along with a wonderful 12 assists. Lou loves starting because he hasn't had a single bad game since he was given the starting SG spot;
Al Horford was practically perfect in the first quarter and it carried over into the rest of the game: he finished with 20 points on an impressive 10-13 shooting, he also had a very nice 6 assists, his rebounding numbers were however lacking with only 6, maybe its because Zaza was taking away the boards (we'll get to that though);
Zaza Pachulia was a beast tonight, he got the start at Center and took full advantage of it: he had 17 points on 7-11 shooting and was a vaccume on the boards getting 14 rebounds (5 of them offensive). It feels so refreshing to see big Z have a game like this;
Jeff Teague had 15 points and 6 assists overall in the game tonight. He wouldn't have even been close to being on this list if not for his 4th quarter: he had a clutch 4th quarter with 9 points after having a less than impressive first 3 quarters where he totaled only 6 points.

Just Missed the Cut:
Kyle Korver: It was hard to decide who to put in as the 4th person on the list, it was between Teague and Korver and I gave it to Teague because of that 4th quarter, but Kyle still did well for himself totaling 16 points on 5-10 shooting and an impressive 4-5 shooting from downtown.
John Jenkins: How could I not give my boy some love, Jenkins was finally given the chance to play some real minutes and he took advantage tonight: He had 10 off the bench in just 17 minutes on 4-6 shooting and 2-2 from 3 point land. Hopefully John gets more minutes going forward.

Pretty strong game all around tonight.

Can I get an option for 'All of the Above'? Our offense is really strong when there is no focal point for the defense to key on.

Danny Ferry has to be the front runner right now for GM of the Year.

I'd like to see: The exact same intensity and selflessness in the next game.
