PG wanted

Post#1 » by Hawk4Playoffs » Mon Jan 21, 2013 12:12 am

The Hawks definitely need a back up PG since Lou is out for the year and Devin twisted his ankle. Any ideas who we could go after? I'm thinking delonte west. I like this game... and he banged Lebron's mom.

Most likely its not gonna be delonte, his morale problems are too much really. Most likely i see Jannero Pargo returning. He fits with our 3 mentality

Josh Smith could fetch us Jose Calderon.

or

Josh and a draft pick could net us Tyreke Evans and Jason Thompson. (My preference) Tyreke can be our one-on-one scorer to replace Lou. And serve as an actual SG with experience as a PG in spot duty.

Jason Thompson could easily be our starting Center for the future.

This move solves our PG issue, addressing our scoring problems in the halfcourt and stabilizes the frontcourt by providing three players capable of manning the Center position.

I hear whispers that Aaron Brooks (Sacramento's backup PG) might be available for cheap.

That's what I'm thinking, Smith's value is low right now but it's disrespectful to Smith to suggest a Josh for Calderon Trade

I was thinking they needed an extra point even when devin was out with the previous injury.

As Rubio gets healthier, the Wolves may choose to move either Luke Ridnour or JJ Barea. They are both are pretty good for back-up PG vets, though they'd take a nip out of your cap space. It's hard to say what direction the Wolves are going in, but I assume they'd expect a comparable good back-up at another position, or a non-productive expiring and a small incentive, like a Top 20 protected pick.

I guess it's worth keeping an eye on them in this next game, though they will barely have any healthy players to play off of.

Rubio (recovering), Barea, Ridnour
Roy (out), Buddinger (out), Malcolm Lee (out), Howard (out), Shved (out), Gelabale (10-day contract)
Kirilenko
Love (out), Williams, Cunningham
Pekovic (out), Steimsma, Amundson, Chris Johnson (10-day contract)

No, he's our best trade asset.

It's doubtful he resigns with Atlanta.

He's not worth a max contract or anything close to it.

Dwight Howard has never expressed any interest in ever playing with Josh Smith.

He has a bad attitude, and isn't much of a leader.

He's too inconsistent to be depended on as a 1st option.

If Josh Smith is your team's best player, your team is slightly above average. Just like we are.

I waited for the first 5 years of Josh's career to see him become a top player, a consistent force, a franchsie piece. It never happened; it's past time to move on. I do not understand the commitment and dedication of Hawks fans who'd rather lose with Josh Smith than ever be without him.

Fair enough. I meant Calderon as the centerpiece of a trade. Not necessarily trading Josh straight up for Jose.

I don't know much about the Raptors roster.

JJ Barea (PG) + Derrick Williams (F) + B.Roy contract + pick to Hawks

J.Smith + A.Tolliver to Wolves.

Not a bad idea if Atlanta thinks they may lose Smith by having more workable pieces ... get a needed PG, developing young forward, and pick.

Perfect pick up.......familiar with the system/ handles the ball/ shoots the 3 well/ not scared to take clutch shots/ excels in uptempo.
