"Shortly after the 76ers reached an agreement to sign Nick Young, Lou Williams announced via Twitter that he would not be returning to Philadelphia: "Philly, I appreciate you all. Unfortunately I will not be coming back, as an organization they decided to move in a different direction." John Finger of CSNPhilly.com confirmed (via Twitter) that the Sixers will not attempt to re-sign Williams."

He took SLIGHTLY less money to play for the Hawks rather than the Warriors.

I didn't mean to say nobody was chasing him. What I meant to say was nobody was paying him the Thaddeus Young money that he wanted. He simply got the best money and playing chance with the hawks. He did give the hawks a home team discount by not playing with the warriors for more money. I was wrong about that.
But my original point is that Dwight Howard won't come to Atlanta when LA and Dallas are in the mix. I would love to be wrong again.

good for you, but i trust an expert like Danny Ferry than a bunch of bloggers. who ever "thinks" Dwight is not coming, Danny Ferry knows a whole lot more about the NBA, basketball, and the cap than who ever is posting on this board

"Atlanta, Dallas and Houston will be Howard's chief suitors when he enters free agency July 1. But the Lakers can offer Howard a five-year contract worth roughly $118 million while every other team in the league can offer him only about $88 million over four years. The extra $30 million means a lot to Howard, sources said, and is definitely a major advantage for the Lakers."
"Howard is not keen on playing in his hometown of Atlanta."
Hate on Broussard all you want. Nobody else is reporting otherwise.

Difference between signing Lou and JJ:
JJ was given max money to come be the franchise player. He led us from worse team in the league to perennial playoff player. He was an All Star, All NBA and represented us in the World Basketball Championships.
Lou was signed to be a backup. For less money than we pay Zaza. He was not expected to carry us. The NBA didn't even bother to put him on the ALL Star Ballot.
Clearly we expected more from the JJ signing; it was a big deal.
The city treated the JJ signing very similar to the Mutombo signing years ago. As a big deal.
Lou was expected to be a 4th option at best. Thus the short contract for a low dollar amount.
Yeah, hindsight. Again, at the time NO ONE was offering Joe that money. His choices were all gone after Cleveland pick Larry Hughes and Seattle resigned Ray Alen and Milwalkee resigned Michael Redd. Joe was seen as the FOURTH best SHOOTING GUARD free agent that year.
He turned out to be the 2nd best signing that year, but lets not act like Billy Knight knew the future. The Hawks didn't sign big name free agents because they never were in the position to do so capwise excpet for that ONE year when Kenyon Martin went back to New Jersey(a no duh decision) and Erick Dampier went...somewhere.
Otherwise we were acquiring big contract guys through trades like Sharif, Glenn Robinson, Steve Smith, Theo Ratliff, Al Harrington and others.
The ONLY reason Joe moved the meter was because of the trash around the trade with the ownership battle and such.
