I think other fan bases aren't as...I can't think of a word....as you guys.
Fun fact, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams take just as many or more bad shots as Josh smith does in a game. They do so without playing a BIT of defense, rebounding the ball and sulk alot. yet they don't get HALF the flack you guys give Josh.
You guys just watch from way to close. I am becoming convinced that the only basketball you guys watch are the Hawks because you all seem to have this glowing opinion of whats going on with other teams. 100% truth, Josh Smith is having a better season than Joe Johnson and Deron Williams. Around here though, you would think he is the worse player in the NBA.
Rip2137 wrote:I think that if you think Josh does ANY of that less than Deron or Joe(like, seriously, even CLOSE) then you haven't watched the nets play. Of course omitting the bringing the ball of the court part.
Deron and Joe haven't been getting back on d, playing d in the halfcourt, taking horrible shots, refusing to pass the ball (none of you can even try to accuse josh of that) arguing with officials, taking too many jumpers without going inside to Lopez....all that and yet there aren't "countless news articles" calling them out about it.
Can Josh play better? Yep. Is he playing better than most of the league. Yep. You guys just seem to be standing too close to recognize it. Hell, I want Al Jefferson here for Josh, but I am fully aware he doens't get back on D, and doesn't give alot of effort defensively and gets too jumpshot happy at times and can be a black hole on offense(along with milsap) But I appreciate his positives and udnerstand that his positives outweigh his faults.
You guys seem to be of the thinking that 3-4 jumpers and 3 turnovers a game out weigh 17 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4 assist, 2+ blocks, being our most versitile defender and only source of intimidation at the rim. i don't agree with that.
Also, I can't wrap my head around this "doesn't get back on D" thing. Every once in a while he argues too long. But to ignore the time and time again he is closest to the rim on a outlet and somehow ends up challenging the shot at the other end is kinda amazing to me.

Sorry, but that is not right. If Joe takes a 23 ft shot that's wide open, that's a good shot. If Smith takes the same shot, it's a bad shot. The difference is Joe can shoot. Teams run over to cover him when he's open outside. On the other hand, teams run away to leave Smith open so that he'll take the shot. Sure, Joe's having a blah year but he's a much (much, much) better outside shooter than Josh Smith - and I shouldn't have to tell you that. AND Joe and Williams are good defenders AND they rebound for their position AND they never sulk as badly as Smith. In all the years we had Joe, I never saw him pout and cry like Smith, even when I thought he ought to.

The NBA prohibits teams from trading first-round draft picks in successive seasons. The rule was put in place in response to Ted Stepien's disastrous run as owner and de facto general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
During Stepien's reign, the Cavaliers made a practice of trading future draft picks for marginal veteran players. His most notable deal sent a 1982 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Dan Ford and the 22nd overall pick in 1980. That 1982 pick wound up being the first overall selection, which the Lakers used to select future hall-of-famer James Worthy.

Korver-Stevenson- Tolliver
Evans- Jenkins- Morrow
Teague- Harris-Pargo
ATL still keeps HOU 1st and 2nd

There never was this rule, it's only "future first picks" (like 2013 and 2014 if traded now) that you can't trade in consecutive years, but nothing against trading your first round picks each year.
