What's really funny is that you can map out the 7 stages of grief with the Hardcore Josh fans at this point.

Most of them are somewhere between denial and bargaining...

I don't like Monta but I could live with trading for him, I want no part of Jennings however, we have a BETTER PG in Teague and Jennings will cost alot more than JT0 this summer

The only reason to trade for Monta is to let him walk. If you are going to let a guy walk, it might as well be Smith as he actually would have a value to a team over or near the cap for a Sign and trade. Monta is a undersized 2 and low percentage volume scorer. We have Monta lite in Lou Williams under contract.

monta doesn't make this team better, will seek money at or near what you would have had to pay Smith ANYWAY...no, I would have a major problem trading for him.

Besides. This team has Morrow, Jenkins, Harris, technically Korver and Stevenson playing that 2 position. its LITERALLY the last position we need.

If we were going to let him walk why would we trade for a player that were going to let do the same. We might as well keep josh and see how he blends this season. I think we can resign for less than max. Mr.Ferry is very persuasive. Plus you guys dont know what him and smith talk about so we can all see josh being a hawk still with a rebuilt title contender

So:

1) a trade for expiring contracts isn't what you're interested in
2) a trade for reasonably priced starters for next year: Turner and Hawes is a terrible trade
3) You need substantial value, yet you expect that in draft picks for a guy desiring a max contract that fits on a handful of teams

What exactly do you guys want for Josh Smith?

For me, a guy with a low post game and/or can rebound and play D(Dalembert is the "no offense, defense rebounding big I would accept) and a defensive 3 that can knock down the outside shot reasonably well.

I am not thinking its much.

Thank my (late) father. He always told me the hardest job in the world is being a mortician . . . and having to look sad when business is good.

Would you do the Derrick Williams/Pekovic package from Minnesota, with Gasol going to Minnesota?

I have no problem with Josh leaving if we can improve, and if it's Ellis and Sanders, it's another story, but something based mainly on Ellis doesn't make any sense, and it has to if Ferry make this trade, that's why I was searching any motivation he would have, including getting Ellis to help an Howard signing, even if I don't see a huge difference between having Ellis or Josh, while having both would certainly make Howard think about it.

Rip2137 wrote:The only reason to trade for Monta is to let him walk

If it's mainly Josh for Ellis, it doesn't make any sense because Ellis is not on ending contract like Josh, he has a player option, so this summer Ferry would have a cap space depending on Ellis will to stay or not, and I don't see him making something like that.

And even if having Ellis would motivate Josh and Howard to play with him, I don't see Ferry gambling on this option.

PHI : something based on Hawes and T. Young (no Turner)
MIL : something based on Ilyasova, Dalembert and filler (with Zaza going with Josh)

MIN would never trade for Smith even if he says he will re-sign with them, when have Gasol.
I would never trade for Smith at the cost of Gasol, for sure, and if MEM want Smith, then we have better to trade with them for Gasol than adding MIN and getting Pekovic and Williams, even if Pekovic/Williams is a good offer.

I would leap all over that trade, only Minny would never offer their starting Center and Williams for a guy that plays the same position as Love.

^ its a pointless, borderline bad trade. Dwight is 100% leaving the Lakers, handing over Smith to the Lakers would just up the likelyhood of Dwight staying in LA to 99%. I would rather see Dwight in Dallas, Atlanta, or Houston.

and most importantly, the Hawks don't have to trade for Pekovic, when they can just sign him straight up this summer and give him a Hibbert size contract.

We've said for 3 years we'd trade Smith for a good Center, so yes.

Why give up any youth for a guy that doesn't want to be in Milwaukee long term? Makes no sense for us. Hawks and Bucks are bad trade partners. In summation I hope the Bucks don't trade for this d-bag.

This Dbag is better than anyone on your team. AND has won more than all of them as well. I personally hope Josh isn't traded there because I would prefer to see him win.

Please don't do that... Hawks are now my second most favourite team and Monta is my least favourite player. Don't do that!

Well Josh wasn't traded to the Bucks, It's now known that the Bucks' final offer was Udoh, Udrih, Moute, and a protected 1st for Josh.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... Josh-Smith

All I have to say to that is ew, players coming back our way that aren't difference makers and role players at best plus a weak 1st. Ferry did the right thing keeping Smith
