Can I save this for the next time Jamaaliver insinuates I'm too forgiving of Smith?

Josh is the face of the Hawks this year. Its best player. Its longest tenured player. Its highest paid player. The #1 option. That position comes with scrutiny.

Josh's response to this added scrutiny has been....uneven.

It's not unheard of for an entire roster to play poorly, especially on a long cross-country roadtrip.

That 8 years after drafting him, we're still questioning a specific player's decision making, shot selection and effort, is disconserting.

Read a few of the game threads from losses in 2008.

From 2009.

From 2010.

It's the same basic idea. If Josh struggles in a tough matchup, or just misses good shots in the paint, that's one thing. everyone occasionally has a bad game.

But the fact that he simply makes the same mistakes year after year, with little overall increase in production, it's maddening to watch.

I've watched the Hawks as a fan for almost 17 years. Most of those, sadly, have been with Josh as a starter.

It's been frustrating. Mutombo, Steve Smith, Mookie Blaylock, Joe Johnson, Shareef were all team leaders throughout the years. and they've all received criticism for their shortcomings.

But we all are often critical of Teague...and AL...and Devin when they play terribly.

We expect Josh to play smarter, better, harder.

He has the talent.

we can have all the personal attacks, name calling, hyperbole, rhetorical, blaming..... but i think the Suns game really showed the reason why Popovich will sit out his big three, Duncan, Parker, Manu, in back to back, meaningless games, because you really need fresh legs for it to work. in the San Antonio system, fresh legs sometimes looks more important that talent. because for some games of the Spurs, they will march out five scrubs and still either get a competitive score or win.

Who knows, maybe sitting out Teague, Al, and Josh would have been a good idea. have Zaza, Ivan, Tolliver, Korver, and Jenkins run the system and it might be as affective as when the Spurs do it?
