Zaza appreciation thread

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Sun Jul 7, 2013 11:16 am

One of the undisputed fan favorites, I'm really gonna miss watching him grinding it out game in and game out for the Hawks. I don't really go out of my way to root for former Hawks players who leave but I will for big Z. Good Luck and Thank you for the 8 wonderful years!!

I'm going to miss Zaza, but I'm also happy for him. He got a great final contract.

Maybe one day we can bring him back as an assistant to bully our big men in training

I was torn on Zaza. He did provide us with intensity and scoring (occasionally), but I always cringed when I watched him play. The moving picks on offense and getting caught in picks on defense.

Will surely miss him. This is a proof that we are indeed rebuilding and not simply building...
I am starting to get anxious about this whole thing considering the money that we are throwing at KK or even Millsap...

minus plus neutral
Smoothe Millasp Korver
Zaza Muscala Teague ?
Harris Schroeder? Stevenson?
Ivan Carroll
Petro Nogeira?
Jones Ellis?

At the moment too many unknwon (foreign Dratftees,Teague, Stevenson, Ellis?) and certainly lack of experience...
and huge losses with Smoothe, Zaza, Harris and Ivan all together with not much to balance it out. We will not make the playoffs this year and might as wel get Al "injured" and tank!

Not to mention no picks in return for all the losses...

Indeed. Losing Zaza and Devin hurts the most as their subsequent deals were very modest.

Devin makes $3 million per year. We absolutely should have brought him back at that price. As a mentor for Schroeder.

As we stand, we have:

Al at a generous 6'10"
Millsap at 6'8"
Muscala (R) 6'11"
Scott at a generous 6'8*
Carroll 6'8"
maybe Nogeira at 7'0 but so thin
as players 6'8* and over... we were small last year but this year???

and people would like me to believe
1) that Ellis (or Jennings) would be needed
2) that Bynum could be our savior
3) that most importantly we are not tanking!?
