after having watched a lot of summer league i'm convinced that dennis is the best real point guard of this draft class. his court vision, playmaking, patience, control, running the pnr is completely unmatched by burke and co.
and all those guys are older than him.
summer league is so much ugly run and gun stuff, but dennis understands to organize the game really well.
Wake up, girl. I wanna go surfing.

Schroder's stats aren't amazing. He's shooting a lot of 3s with no results. Also, he's been very foul prone. Maybe that's just getting used to the US game. However, I'd love to see him setting up some better shooters like Korver and running the PNR with Horford. Overall, I'm excited at his potential which will really start to come out once he settles in at the NBA level and puts some meat on his bones.

Bebe, to me, doesn't really look ready to be at this level. He's out of position a lot and doesn't have any offensive game whatsoever. He's got athleticism, but that's about it. Hopefully, he can grow into his body some more and get smarter with time. It's just going to take some patience to see him reach his potential compared to Schroder who's possibly ready to contribute now.

Yeah, one of the comparisons I heard about Bebe was JOakim Noah. He totally could grow into that, but he has a long way to go. He's probably two years from the league and at least three years from being a starter.

I'm gonna love watching Denny play PG in a Hawks uni for the next decade plus.

Isiah is now commenting SL games? My how the mighty have fallen.

I'd like to see some scoring from Schroder. I've been impressed with his ability to play the point, but I can't get rid of the nagging feeling that in the NBA smart teams will force him to take long jumpshots, like they do with Rondo.

Yes, but there is a clip from the highlights from last night where he came off a screen, caught a pass, and drained a 3pt in rhythm. I think he is shooting so that he can develop that part of his game. He's just not consistent with it yet. If he can do that and work on staying out of foul trouble, he will a very solid PG!

And espn.
Dennis Schroder, Hawks: 16 PTS | 5 AST | 3 STL
Schroder recovered from a first quarter in which he posted three turnovers to turn in the afternoon's best performance. With every game, Schroder is building a reputation as a player with a game beyond his years. -- Nowell

dennis shot 40% from downtown last season (3.3 attempts per game), i think he has already shown that his catch and shoot jumper is money. no need to be worried. i mean SL is a small sample size, the schedule is horrible (guys are not at 100%), and then the distance of the three-point line is a tad different in the USA, maybe he needs to adjust a bit. whatever it is, i wouldn't be worried about his catch and shoot jumper. about his shot off the dribble, yes. about his midrange game, yes. but not about wide open threes.

Camby was the one I thought when watching the games, Noah too but not the same attitude.

Schroder is going to have to relearn defensive basketball. Not because he isn't a good defender, but he defends like a guy that's in the game that's only there for fouls and not more important. Think Mario West. But a guy that is the point guard and actually important can't play like Mario West defensively or he will have 2 fouls within 3 minutes into the first.

Camby, Tyson, Joakim...any of these would be solid.

Wow, I hadn't seen that. True the 3pt line is different, but he's hitting them anyways. We've seen him hit a nice floater in the lane, so he's got some options off the dribble. I think he looks to have the drive to be really good and will work on all aspects of shooting in order to become really dangerous. The Hawks will push to develop as well. He's definitely looking like a steal at 17!!!

Maybe 17 is the Hawks number... 9 years ago, they selected Josh with the 17th pick, and it also was a steal.
Too bad it didn't turn great and there are some regret, but if Schröder can be that good, with the potential leadership he seems to have, it can be this time what we hope we could get from Smith but never got
