Well Detroit, enjoy Josh for the next 5 years. The worst part about this is the fact that he's making 14 mil a year and as a result the Pistons will have to give him big minutes. I'm just glad that we don't have to deal with that awful shot selection anymore, Ferry knew what he was doing: he didn't even wanna talk extension with Josh.

But at this point, his failures are his own. I'm adjusting my prediction: Piston fans will be booing Josh by New Years Day.

^^THIS^^
Many of us Piston fans believe Smith needs a coach with the balls to reel him in. Same with Jennings. We have the absolute worst coach for this with Cheeks who just rolls the ball out and lets them play. We are seeing exactly what you guys have seen, a guy who shows flashes of being great but makes poor decisions most of the time. This Pistons franchise is the worst situation he could have possibly gone to. (well maybe the Knicks).
And yes, many already want him gone but more want the Cheeks gone.

How does Dumars still have a job?

Draft two bigs with primetime potential.....

Sign another big to 60 million....to play SF.

Hire a coach that oversaw the rise of the JailBlazers to reel him in.....

Hire the main culprit of the JailBlazers for......support I guess.

Sign and trade for a PG who has never met a shot that he didn't like......or could make.

Profit.

^Goodwill.

His recent performance has been fairly terrible, no doubt. But he still boasts a resume that includes 4 division titles, 2 Conference Titles and an NBA Title. When a GM has a run like that early in his career, he certainly gains some leeway.

He broke up that team way too early. The day he traded Chauncey to Denver for Iverson was a move in desperation for one last shot at greatness, but his team was in first place and actually had the top offense in the league.

Every move since then has essentially blown up in his face.

Also, getting Ben Wallace in exchange for Grant Hill (who was leaving in Free Agency regardless) is quite possibly the single shrewdest move in NBA history.

Even Andy Reed was let go by the Eagles. At some point goodwill runs out and people start to recognize the half decade of suck that you personally oversaw.

Piston's are going to reach a crossroads this season where they'll have to figure out whether they want to trumpet on in mediocrity or suck bad enough to retain their pick which was traded to the Bobcats in another brilliant move by Dumars in order to shed the salary of one of his previous brilliant signings (Ben Gordon) in order to free up the cap to make yet another brilliant signing of Smoove. I'm just waiting on him to turn Monroe, Stuckey and Villanueva's expirings into Rudy Gay to complete the trifecta.

The pistons signed a Power forward to play small forward. Thats all you have to know. Some pistons fans only want to move Monroe because they figure he is going to command a big salary(he will) and think Drummond will be just as good or better but won't be in the position to make the money Greg will make in FA(I think they are wrong there).

Drummond has the it factor to be huge, but if they want to win right now, they have to move him to the bench and put Smith back down low. Throw in the fact that thier starting back court is shooting THIRTY FREAKING 6 PERCENT from the field and THIRTY FREAKING 2 percent from the field, yet routinely take more shots than the rest of the team combined is, again, painfully hilarious to watch. Serously, to have 3 bigs and NO shooters is one of the worst built teams ever.

Dumars is doing what Billy Knight said he believed in: stockpiling talent, no matter the chemistry. In that light, he's been effective so far, drafting Monroe and Drummond, then adding Smith and Jennings for just cash.

If the talent will mix or if Dumars can trade them for talent that WILL mix, then Dumars will have succeeded.

I think Dumars needs Monroe, Smith and/or Jennings to play so well that teams will be interested. I think Drummond is the only untouchable.
