If the rumors that Sacramento wants him, he will only be signed by us as a max FA. Looky here:

Are you, perhaps, backing down? First you say that getting Thompson should be Ferry's defining move, now you think you'd only sign him for $9-11 million.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Well, I don't think Ferry has spent 11 Million per on anybody .. right. I think that would be a defining move right in line with what we gave Joe. In the time of big money, Joe's first deal with us was a 70 Million dollar deal. He made just over 13 mill per. However, Joe played better defense than Klay. Now in the time of fiscal responsibility, I think that a 9-11 Million dollar deal is more along the lines of what Klay is worth.. and actually a good offer.
Right now of the guys coming off their first deal, I don't think that there's anybody save Curry, George, and the guy in Cleveland who I would consider giving 14...
What you lookin' at? You all a bunch of ****' a-holes. You know why? You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your freakin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy."
