Jeff Green?

From a Mitch Lawrence tweet:
Mitch Lawrence ‏@Mitch_Lawrence 7h

We're hearing #Hawks looking to get Jeff Green, who is being shopped hard by Danny Ainge and the #Celtics.

It's going to cost #Atlanta DeMarre Carroll and more

looking at the situation for both teams I doubt anything happens here unless the Hawks really really want Green. Would the Hawks be willing to give up a pick or good young prospect plus filler? I don't think the Cs do a move just to shed a couple million in Salary.

if this what the C's are looking for then it's just rumor. Having said that, I've seen from a couple of sources that the big push for the C's is to be a player in the '15 FA market. Rondo is in this class as is Love, LMA, and M Gasol; Ainge's is seeing a good point to have a strong 1-2 punch to form the core of the next championship Celtics team.

Green's '15 salary is a PO so there's no telling if he'd take the $$ in hand or shoot for a long term deal, but there is some value in dropping it. 1st, we have to realize that Green is, at best, a neutral effect on the court. He can play some D at the 3, but his O drops off precipitously - vice versa at the 4. The PER difference is negative at both positions. His on/off court net is slightly negative as well... Which means that he's about on par with Gerald Wallace and Brandon Bass. Once we weigh these numbers I simply can't see any argument that he's worth the $9+M he'll be paid next year and the PO the next season. Hence, what this means is that I'd expect Green to use his PO as leverage - either he takes the PO and clogs up another $9+M or he'll take more years for what becomes another bad contract. Ainge knows this and would prefer to clear this problem up earlier rather than later.

For our part, Ferry is always trolling for a deal and Green @ $9+M screams salary dump. Don't know exactly what our angle here would be - depends on how much salary relief we give. To completely erase him, we want our 1st back; drop his y3 salary, then Lou + Cunningham would be acceptable.

You would want Jeff Green and Atl's first for Lou and Cunningham? wat

Green's contract isn't THAT bad. He's not Gerald Wallace and he'll be an expiring contract next season. He would be valuable to any team that needs a F and wants to attempt to compete in the playoffs. He can drop 30 to 40 on any given night. You can't say that about just any player. Is he great? No but he can provide some scoring.

I would think the inclusion of Schroder or the first would be a deal breaker.

Yeah that's why I included the 2nd rounders...I think Boston would need a 2nd rounder coming back at the least if we are moving Green and taking back Lou... hard to get inside Ainge/Ferry's heads to see what they'd be thinking.
Are you guys tanking or pushing for the playoffs more even with Horford out?
I think it's obvious what we're doing.

2nds don't make up for the fact that Atlanta would be giving up the rights to swap firsts and/or a rookie pg.

Atlanta has always been trying to make the playoffs.

I like Green's game, but would not give up Carrol in a trade for him. Carrol is a big part of our starting line up for 2.5M/season and our best defender. I would not mind Lou + Scott+ 2nd round pick though. Green would make us better immediately.

As a Celtics fan, I can't see them dealing Green without getting an asset of some kind. I don't think Brand's expiring is enough. I personally think DA would want Shroder...if that's a deal breaker, than I don't think a deal happens.

Agree with uga_dawgs24 here: this becomes an easy pass if there is an insistence that the 1st rounder in the deal would be going to BOS. 2 2nds just doesn't move the dial.

Another item: if we're dealing Lou, then we won't be dealing Brand without getting a big back. Cunningham's salary would work just fine in place.

The big thing is that on the tweets it says that Green is being shopped hard by Boston, not that Atlanta was going hard after him.

That leads me to believe that Atlanta isn't going to give a ton for a guy who is being shopped hard.

Id be willing to give up Lou Williams + Filler for Jeff Green and thats it. Im not high on Green. Owed a ton of money, hes not great at SF which is where he would stay. Hes having a career LOW year. Carroll is having a career HIGH year.

Carroll at 2.6 million a year is a bargain, not sure where our defence comes from if we swap Carroll + Assets for Green.

Right. It reads that Ainge is taking Green around the Association and it's now our turn to hear his sales pitch.

Thing is, Green's not better than Horford or Millsap at PF and I don't think he's better than DeMarre at SF. He's an $8,700,000 / $9,200,000 / $9,200,000 backup for us, unless we're trading one of our starters ... and, then, we'd better be getting more.

Could always just resign Marvin if people are deadset on an average tweener.

Marvin at least adds consistant D. I want no part of Jeff Green and his salary. Especially if it cost us Carroll.

Jeff Green is a major move. He is a three, he is a four. On a large lineup he can be a 2. He scores easily better than any present Hawk. I'd be interested in he and Rondo. Scot, Carroll, Teague and two number one's for both.

I miss New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July. Please go over to the BOS site and suggest this.
