Toronto vs Atlanta

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Sun Mar 23, 2014 5:06 pm

Atlanta (31-36) saw a much-needed five-game winning streak come to an end in Friday's 111-105 home loss to New Orleans. Prior to the streak, the Hawks had dropped 14 of 15, and their playoff standing just about fell through the floor.

Korver did not travel with the team.

Expected Starters:
Teague-Mack-Carroll-Millsap-Antic

That starting lineup has to be one of the worst I've ever seen. Let's see what Coach Bud is able to do with Paul, Jeff and a team of role players.

good start. We're really gonna miss Korver for however long he's out.

Demarre leading scorer after 1 quarter with 12 points. He's scoring through sheer hustle and High IQ plays.

Toronto announcers are lamenting that the smaller team is leading in points in the paint. We're playing hard, organized ball.

Lou W is getting some early burn in this game. Let's see if he's knocked some of that rust off...

TOR announcers just said Greivis owns Dennis. Let's see how that matchup plays out through the rest of game.

Raptors announcers;

I don't know what it is about Atlanta, but they bring out the absolute worst in the Raptors. No matter who coach is. Players come and go.

It's nice to at least dominate one franchise in this league. Though I guess we seem to have Charlotte's number as well.

Really nice sequence by Dennis and the bench squad to end the 3rd quarter.

I really like what I'm seeing from DS overall.

Again, I must lament his lack of PT in the first half of the season. He could be so much further along by now. But his progress is steady at this point.

Raptors go on a 13-0 run in the fourth to cut the Hawks lead down to 1.

I remember some of the guys here speaking that DeRozan was a chucker and overrated. But that kid has developed into a top young player this year.

2 straight possessions in crunch time. Teague doesn't share the ball and we can't score. One point game with 3+ mins left.

Looking at today's game, and how the Raptors were able to come back in the end, I really think we need a wing scorer. Someone capable of putting pressure on opposing 2s and 3s. Someone capable of creating their own shot and able to score in crunch time when opposing defenses clamp down.

Lou Will used to provide that. maybe he can in the future.

But we need a talent upgrade on this team big time.

Losing Rudy Gay was the best thing that's happened to Toronto in years: they looked stagnant and a borderline playoff team with him but since that trade they've taken the East by storm. I'm really happy for that franchise though, they have a good fan-base.

2 things you need in the league:
An elite wing scorer and a stretch 4. PM/AH can be semi decent stretch 4s (not really 3 pt shooters but they shoot well from the outside and have good inside game).

We dont have an elite wing. Korver has added that corner shot to his arsenal but we need a real SG.
