Do u realize over the last 2 weeks josh smith is shooting 38 percent. Or the fact that this year he has taken more long jumpshots then deng and iguodala put together. Both play small forward and josh is a power forward. I have watch him on defense he dont always close out on shooters. Josh just dont understand how much he hurts this team and he is a captain. The good does not out weight the bad he does. And al horford plahs hard every play and last year as the 4 option he average 15 and 9. Shooting 58 percent from the field. When he was always going against people that out weighted and were taller than him. Al horford is a better 4 than josh smith

With all due respect, that is pure nonsense. Does he not get back out to 3 point shooting bigs everytime? Sure. He also is expected to be the rim protector so its going to happen. Does he shoot too many jumpers some games? He sure does. But to say that discounts his Points, Blocks, Assist, Steals, rebounds, at the rim intimidation and all around defensive help is pure nonsense.

By the way, Josh is doing all this at the PF going against peopel that outweigh and are taller than him. No props there?

I can tell you are a josh smith fan. He is a good player. A top 12 power forward in the nba.But he is not the best power forward on our team. His mind has been holding him back and will always keep him from being a great basketball player. He cannot shoot jumpers but has taken more than any other forward in the nba. He is hitting only 20 percent of them. He just dont understand how bad that is. We dont need him taking jumpers. Its like a turnover when he shoots. The hawks need him scoring in the paint. And when josh is not invole with the offense, he doesnt give 100 percent on defense. Every time he grab a rebound he wants to bring the ball up the court even though he cant dribble. It is like he dont understand his weakness. If he played to his strength he would be so much better. Just watch him play. He will a make play that will make u cheer for him and then do some stupid stuff that hurts the team. Name another nba star hurts his team more thanhe helps. Thats why he must go

IF we can get a good big man to play Center, I'd be all over trading Josh. Problem is, such a trade hasn't presented itself so far. Personally, I'd love to see Josh - fulltime - at SF and Horford at PF. Josh would dominate SFs and Horford would find PFs easier competition. We win at 2 positions.

Trading Josh Smith for the sake of getting rid of him would kill us. Horford-only is as poor an option as the present Josh-only team.

Josh, right now, is the best player (with an enormous difference to the second) in a team that, right now, is 6th seeded in the East without a starter and with a second starter not playing for the last few games.

Then I think our problems are in other places, people, ideas of this franchise.

Josh Smith is probably realizing aspects of his game that he never cared about. Horford going to down the injury is possibly a blessing for Josh, and when Horford returns, I fully expect Josh to only make us stronger. Now, if the ASG receive an offer they cannot refuse, I hope they accept it, and we already know from last season that they expect a large return for Josh (top 5 pick).

Agree with everything in the quote, if Josh does what he's doing consistently even when Al comes back he'll realize his full potential, now if we get an offer to get a top 5 pick then we should accept especially if we have the opportunity to draft Drummond, or if we get offered a player like Bynum, but IF Josh keeps playing like this that's pretty much all I'd do for Josh

I'm nothing if not fair. Overall a productive night from Josh Smith.

Though, there are sill too many long jumpers. :-?

His stock is as high now as its been in years.

TRADE HIM, ASG!

Slow days? I sometimes venture through old topics when I'm bored as well, I've had some nice memories on this website

I mean we replaced him with Milsaps, who I didn't think we would go after. FWIW, Smith did have a career high year when Horford was out. With that said, we don't need Smith now because we simply went out and got another PF just as good, which makes you wonder since we supposedly already had one on the roster.

we didnt need him in the 2012-2013 season either. He was a big fat negative on offense and we had some impressive wins when he was out.
