Charlotte at Atlanta
Our beloved Hawks are favored to win by 4.5 points on a back to back night.
Charlotte won't be a push over considering it's a back to back and a division rival.
Let's get another win!!!
GO HAWKS!!!

Korver is sitting out tonight per Peachtree Hoops and AJC.

Interesting. Smart of Bud to proceed cautiously with both Thabo and KK recovering from surgery. Also smart to alternate their days off.
Starting Thabo and Bazemore seems likely and is worth paying close attention to. They both play above average defense, but their ability to hit shots is the key to replacing Demarre (and for tonight, KK).
I predict an ugly, defensive slugfest if those two start together. CHA will sag off Thabo and Baze to clog up the paint and driving lanes. Kent and Sefolosha will have to make them pay.
One alternate approach Bud might consider...starting Tiago, AL and Millsap together. Tiago was brought in largely to help with big centers like AL Jefferson.

Not a lot of traffic on the board today. A lot of empty seats in the stadium as well.

Partying or football games.
I don't say much but I do a little to keep things afloat. Maybe I should post the realgm link in the team Facebook page comments.

Plenty of Halloween parties for people to attend last night.
Not a game against Charlotte.
But, I'm just glad that we won, and now we can move forward with a win streak.
Have a safe weekend.

Your commentators "Al Jefferson isn't his normal defensive powerhouse inside"
=O When has Al Jefferson ever been good defensively

Re: Charlotte at Atlanta
Good first half today.
CHA is just bricking away from 3 for some reason.
All their misses and long rebounds lead to easy fast break opportunities for ATL.
I appreciate that Horford has added 3 pt shooting to his Arsenal, but I'd prefer he not make it a regular occurrence.
I want him moving closer to the paint on offense, not further away. His mid-range jumper is elite. But his three point shooting is still subpar.

Eh, hope not. A little too much for me, but glad you dig them.

Re: Charlotte at Atlanta
Dennis had an effective first half, but struggled in the 2nd half.
Bazemore with a big game in front of family, he had a huge three with 73 seconds left and iced it with FTs.
Marvin Williams...would, ironically, be a perfect fit on our ball club as starting SF & backup PF.
AL SHOT 7/9 from inside the arc. 0/5 from three point range...we know where his strength lies. Let's not marginalize it.

Re: Charlotte at Atlanta
Great win, and good to see us capitalizing on an easy schedule to start the season. Would be great to see us go 3-0 in div. play against Miami on Tuesday.

I like Al shooting 3s. He needs to add that to his game. I think the fri game he was 2/5?

My disdain for BIGS who camp out at the 3-point line is longstanding, particularly since we've been an underwhelming rebounding team for most of the last decade.
I used to criticize Josh for jacking up more threes than Korver in any given game...and I must do the same to AL doing the same yesterday. AL somehow puts up five 3-pt attempts and is now shooting 27% on the season from deep.
If AL is putting up those five open jumpers from 18 feet out instead of 30 feet...we likely win that game by a lot more. Yesterday, he was hitting 77% from inside his normal range. Yet he was almost Smoove-like in his insistence on camping out at the three point line.
It'll be interesting to see if he sticks to his clear strength in the mid range, or opt for more lower percentage shots from deep moving forward.

Re: Charlotte at Atlanta
mehhhhhhh
Hes not Josh Smith. Hes averaging 17pts/8REB , shooting 51%, 28% from 3pt range through 4 games. before his 5 misses he was shooting 5/13 or near 39%. So its early, if he can shoot 35% from 3 pt range it just opens up another weapon for Bud. You cant really criticize his shooting percentages this early because 1 bad game throws it off. Like i said he was shooting 39% before that game and we all would have been like OH WOW HES LETHAL. need a larger sample size.
He never been a dominant rebounder and hes not going to start doing that now. Hes only AVG 10 REB once in his career. HIs midrange game has looked near perfect from what I have seen outside that first Pistons game.
Also , Al shooting more 3s (and making) draws their big man out of the paint and can actually open up opp for rebounding.

SportingNews.com actually just put out an article today specifically about this issue. They are in agreement with you regarding AL at the 3-pt line.
HEREThe Hawks need a basket. It's early in the first quarter against the Hornets...With a six-point deficit, Hawks guard Kent Bazemore finds himself having to make a play with the clock winding down against an already-set defense. Al Jefferson [is] the Hornets' last line of defense, but he's not in position to prevent Bazemore's layup. Instead, he's standing at the elbow guarding Al Horford, who is waiting patiently for a kickout at the 3-point line. Usually Horford would spot-up 16-feet away from the basket, a distance he has grown comfortable from throughout his career. But this is the new-look NBA, where centers venture out beyond the perimeter, and Horford is fully embracing the movement.
Nearly a quarter of his shot attempts throughout his career have come from 10-16 feet and he's converted them at an elite rate of 45.2 percent. Last season, he began taking the next step in his development by experimenting with 3-pointers when he attempted 36 shots from the perimeter, all but seven of which came from the corner. While he converted them at a subpar rate of 30.6 percent, it planted the seeds for future growth.
"The league is evolving," said Horford. "You have guys, big guys, shooting 3s, handling the ball, doing different things. I just think it makes you a better player and help your team more.
According to NBA.com, all but one of his attempts have been wide open.
I remain skeptical, but we'll see how things continue throughout the year. GSW proved that a jump-shooting team CAN win it all.

Re: Charlotte at Atlanta
Well i also think this early in the season they are experimenting with what works and what doesnt. Al shooting 3s at this clip I dont think is sustainable, but, if he can get confidence, and make some , it give the defense something else to worry about. Remember Pero was supposed to be that guy, the stretch 3 pt shooter vs Indy that never happened.
Spreading the floor is a plus, but hes got to hit the shots and I agree with you there.
