Thanks for putting this up, Dirty Bird.
This place has been noticeably quiet the last few weeks. Even for the Hawks Forum...it's embarrassingly inactive.
But it's nice to see the few mainstays we have on the board this early in the year.

Re: 11/4 Nets at Hawks
Per Peachtree Hoops:
Any thoughts on our starting 5 tonight?
Do we go with Dennis and Teague in the backcourt again?
Start Splitter at the 5?
Or let Thabo start in Korver's spot?
The Atlanta Hawks continue to be extremely careful with the players they have that are working their way back from offseason surgery. Kyle Korver is listed as out on the team's updated injury report for Wednesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. Korver played 34 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Miami Heat. Atlanta has opted to rest Korver along with Thabo Sefolosha during back-to-back situations so far this season.

No problem, I feel we gotta have something minimal at least, I suppose the 2 pg's start.

Yea, expecting DS and Teague again, I don't think Bud wants to take Thabo's defense away from the bench.

Re: 11/4 Nets at Hawks
The site has been very funky for me lately. Making a post is such a pain.
But I will have to say, that time in Golden State appears to have done wonders for Justin Holiday and he looks much better now. I will gladly eat crow on him if he continues to perform.
I hate the Teague/Schroder lineup. It takes teague out of his rhythm, there isn't any real shooting left...i just don't like it.
Its early but Schroder doesnt look close to being a starti g point guard to me. He looks the same with more discipline on defense, same horrendous vision and more confidence in his jumper(not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing)
Teague seems to have worked on a pull up jumper that he is already starting to abandon. If he can get a consistent pull-up in his arsenal, we are looking at a superstar.
Watching a healthy Al and Thabo work makes me angry aboit how last season ended. I know people still thinks this roster stood no chance... I disagree. With health, this could be a special year.
I love Tiago Splitter...that is all.
Last but not least, even though his stats arent showing it, Mike Scott looks like a MUCH improved player this year. Looking for the midrange, playing closer to the basket with smarter shots when there, it appears improved his ballhandling and passing, more aggressive on the boards, setting solid screens and way more active on d...once his shots start falling, look out.

RIP, your analysis...is spot on.
- Tiago's addition has been (and will continue to be) a huge boon. he brings toughness, size and intangibles we covet. he's probably the best backup BIG in the league.
- I too dislike the Dennis-JT0 lineup. They're roles become too undefined when they share the floor. And this too often comes at the expense of Teague.
- Our defense has been pretty impressive to start the season, particularly on the wings. However, our post defense might need some tightening. We allowed another big night from an opposing Center. Definitely something to monitor.
- Dennis this season has seemed to focus more on scoring than last year. Perhaps to the detriment of the offense. There are a few different factors at play, including Demarre's departure and KK's poor shooting. But our offense isn't quite as sharp just yet.
- Justin Holliday played well and deserves kudos. As does the coaching staff for preparing him accordingly to fill this role. But what does it say about THJ that every wing player we picked up over the summer has at least contributed to a win...while Hardaway has yet to actually enter a game.
- Mike Scott has referred to the basketball court as his sanctuary since his arrest. Hopefully he can have his stats begin to reflect all the work he put in over the summer.
- Horford's efficient play and hot shooting is always amazing to me. I wish we'd as a franchise recognized him as our best player sooner and built around him years ago.

To be fair though, Lopez scored on jumpers, floaters and drive/dishes most of the night. I don't think he scored more than 8 on the block. Whiteside did, and it was impressive....luckily I'm not worried about the Heat or that would give me pause. Drummond is Drummond....dude grabbed 29 rebounds the other night...twenty....freaking...nine.

11/4 Nets at Hawks
It seems like an absolute blessing that we get he easy part of our schedule right away. We can bring Thabo and Korver along slowly without having that cost us games.

Re: 11/4 Nets at Hawks
I was impressed with Bazemore. He continues to gain confidence.
The thing that really stood out to me was Justin Holliday and how natural he looks. Sometimes these practice squad guys or players who dont have a lot of NBA Court time, they can look lost, they can look erratic, try to do too much. he for the most part has made all the right passes, defensive rotations, etc. I really think hes going to be the surprise of the season at the end.
The THJ Experiment, 5 games into the season, I think is over. I believe they blew that deal big time. Anyone actually believe they know what they are doing with him? If Lamar Patterson and Holiday are seeing minutes ahead of him, and now we are seeing it 5 games in, that has to mean SOMETHING.

Agreed. BLaze and Holiday's success proves our coaching staff has the ability to fit 3 & d players seamlessly into our system. Not sure how I feel about bypassing potentially more talented players (Justin Anderson, Rodney Hood, Gary Harris, RHJ, Sam dekker, Kelly Oubre) for role players (Bazemore, Holiday, THJ)...but they clearly have an idea of what they want on the wings and get the most out of blue collar scrubs lesser players who hustle every play.
I still think we have a chance to get THJ indoctrinated...eventually. But this pretty much cements how low THJ's stock was when we acquired him.
We overpaid to bring him in. His stock is so low today...Bud won't even let him wear the uniform most days. His stock is so low today...we'd be lucky to get a 2nd round pick in trade for him right now. Which is unbelievable...cause he hasn't even played for our team.
But, In Budz We Trust, right?

I don't see how you can praise Baze then call THJ a failure after 5 games. Do we need to pull up Bazemores stats for the start of last season? Mostly DNPs.

Which is what makes me think we can still salvage THJ.
But, we gave up a top 20 draft pick specifically for Hardaway. The expectations are slightly higher in this scenario. We expect Hardaway to contend for a starting role someday.
The expectations with BLAZE were slightly lower. Think Lamar Patterson, low.

Also, I'm pretty sure I never called Hardaway, Jr a failure.

Re: 11/4 Nets at Hawks
Well a experiment that ends negatively after 5 games is a failure I would say. I say the experiment isn't over.
