Budenholzer Takes Leave of Absence from Hawks

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Fri Nov 13, 2015 6:23 pm

Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the team due to personal reasons, per reports from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Budenholzer left Boston Friday morning, to return to Atlanta to deal with what was refereed to by the team simply as a “family emergency.”

Atlanta’s top assistant Coach, Kenny Atkinson, will take over as the Hawks’ acting Head Coach in Mike Budenholzer’s absence.

The Hawk’s Kenny Atkinson was previously an assistant coach on the New York Knicks’ staff from 2008-2012. Atkinson has been a top Atlanta Hawks assistant since the beginning of the 2012 season.

Hope all is well with Coach Bud and the fam.

Luckily we have a vet group that should be able to withstand even an extended absence.

Reports are that his wife had an emergency operation at Emory. Coach Bud says they're "cautiously optimistic."

I'm fine with Coach taking off as much time as he wants, man. There are some things more important than Sports and this is undoubtedly one of them. I'm also glad to see that he has his priorities in order. Really hope that both Mary Beth and Coach Bud make it through this.
