The plan is to resign Bazemore and Horford. Also we want to sign a starting SF who can defend and score at SF.

What Sf that is attainable will make that much of a difference for the Hawks? KD is out of question, Batum would be an upgrade. Need a backup PG too now.

Unfortunately everything I've read suggests that we're looking to retain Bazemore. I love Baze but I would much rather look to invest that $14-$15 mil he'll want into looking at a Batum (would cost more but we have the money) or Dwight. Especially considering the fact that we have to use pure cap space on Bazemore to re-sign him.

Re-signing Al is a no brainer: you don't just let a player like that walk for nothing.

You think 14-15 per is that bad for Baze? Seems like a decent value, given the fact that a guy like Shump is making about 10 per. Baze worth the extra 4 per imo

When are the Hawks gonna introduce the rookies? I haven't seen any pics, I see some others, but not Atlanta.

Trade has to be finalized first. Probably waiting on that first to bring everyone out for a press conference.

Anyone have an update on the second rounders we stashed last year? Any chance of them ever coming over?

None at all, I guess we can wait and see if any make the summer league team.

I really wanted Demetrius Jackson, I think he is a poor man's Tony Parker and could have been an ideal back up to Schroeder. Hawks how ever took Cordinier. After watching Cordinier for a bit now, he looks ok, he looks like a Zach LaVine type of guard. We probably won't see Cordinier next year, but we will see if he can be a quality combo guard like LaVine down the road.

This is why we need our own D-League team, so we can stash our players there instead of overseas. Hopefully it's coming soon.

Well, that's a myth about the DLeague, it's not a baseball minor league where every member is part of your "farm", it's an independent league with ties to the NBA.

A big reason why the Hawks want him to stay overseas is because they need roster spots. You can't just stash players in the DLeague that you have draft rights to because they count against your roster spots. Additionally, you can only send down two players to the DLeague so no, there are no DLeague teams where 12 NBA prospects are running around. Sure, if the Hawks had an affiliate they could assign 4 guys as "affiliate players" but they have no rights to them, they can be picked and plucked by whatever NBA or international team wants them.

The Prince pick was a reach but I love the two players Atlanta drafted.

The OPEN Floor Podcast from the nBA folks at SI spoke pretty highly of the Hawks draftees.

The ponder whether the Hawks sudden predilection for youth on the wings is preparation for a change in philosophy should AL walk away.

They were pretty complimentary of our front office: Here

^Starts around 43:00 minute mark

We HAD to get younger with Korver at 35 and Thabo at 31 wether Al leaves or not.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
