It's mainly a rotation on C/PF at three players. Paul can start at SF the first minutes then they rotate. It's the best situation, at least on offense against lots of teams, but it can be compensate on defense IMO, a wall of Millsap/Horford/Howard is certainly hard to break.

This is what I am coming around to, and if it's true that we can move Splitter first, sign Howard and then re-sign Horford & Baze, then we may end up going that route as well.

1-Dennis
2-Baze
3-Milsaps
4-Horford
5-Howard

looks pretty strong. Then we would have Augustin??, Korver, Thabo, Humphries, Rooks, and THJ off the bench. No need for a backup center since Horford will play that role. We got Tavares anyway. Much deeper, and the starters look stronger.

But for that to happen, they need to sign Bazemore and Howard for a total of about 28.6M...

Even with Splitter being shipped out first?

Whiteside resigns with Miami .

This definitely now puts Miami out of the Dwight race.

Heat could still go after Horford, but i really think with this, they are not interested in Horford any more.

Sounds like at this point with Noah going to the NYK, its Boston, Portand, maybe Dallas, & Bud.

That's at worse a 25% chance, but I think we have to act quickly and get this done to win this. The hometown hero is our only advantage of this effort. Perhaps you find out which guy(s) Dwight has enjoyed playing with?

I read somewhere that Dwight is looking for a starting salary of 24M. So using the salary cap coverter tool here: https://fansided.com/2016/07/01/nba-free-agency-salary-cap-contract-conversion-tool/

A 4 year contract starting at 24M comes out to a 4Y/96M contract. That comes out to roughly 24% of our salary cap moving forward. It is also the equivalent of a starting salary of $16,633,663 using the old salary cap of the 2015-16 season.

Mark Zinno from 92.9 the game tweeted that we put the $24 mil offer he's looking for on the table.

With Mozgov getting $17 mil, Parsons getting a max, Whiteside getting a max, Noah getting $18 mil, I have absolutely no issue with giving Dwight $24 mil.

Yea it's way better than the 30M+ max that he is elligible for. I'm much more concerned with the length of contract and options then i am with the 24M.

Will it be enough? I'd put 25M and make that 4 year total reach 110M...that gives him the highest deal aside of Rozen of Toronto.

Can we get 110M worth of effort out of him? He has an inside track to be an East all-star next year.

Then see what's available to complement that frontline.

NO OFFER!

Dwight Howard had a productive meeting with the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, according to a league source. It was the first and currently the only meeting Howard, an Atlanta native, has scheduled. “It was a really, really, really good meeting,” the source said. “Very impressive. We don’t have a deal. Dwight’s going to look at all his options. But it went very, very well.”

Idk if this means we didn't offer....his camp might've leaked if we did though.

I think we have to look at more than the money with Howard, he would be the biggest name to choose us since Joe. We're trying to break a mold here.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
