They cant afford him, and it would not be a place he would go to play. Wade, on paper, I would LOVE TO HAVE HIM and that would be SUCH a Hawks move, signing an aging injury prone star past his prime. We should hang jerseys of people who came here to die (nba career wise).

I love Wade and I still think he has something left, he actually had a great year last year, but the price he will want, and the team he would go to wont match up with Atlanta.

A few other blurbs from this piece:

to go from relevant to elite, they need help. Significant help....if Bazemore is re-signed to a contract that effectively makes him the Hawks’ third-highest paid player next season, this team isn’t going anywhere. A lot of really good things can be said about Bazemore but “Big Three” player isn’t one of them.

Schultz: what is there to sell about the Hawks?

Budenholzer: all of the things happening around our team, the way we play, the unselfishness and the way our group gets along...We just feel like we have a hell of a roster and a hell of an opportunity when you look at everything in total

Horford has options and, therefore, leverage. He’ll want to know about the Hawks’ plans to improve. Signing Durant is likely a fantasy. But if the Hawks whiff completely this summer, thinking they’re contenders next season also will be fantasy. Here

Pursuing Kevin Durant looks good on paper and during interviews when we hear someone within our organization say it. However, I doubt anybody expects him to sign with us, he has yet to accept a meeting, and other free agents (including our own) realize the Hawks won't be in his future plans.

Now that the Hawks have Dwight and soon will get Horford, Hawks can now parade those two infront of Durant. I'm not saying it will work, but its a better pitch then they had last week.

If Durant can get an under the table agreement with Budz. Maybe Budz can work out a quick trade with Boston, Millsap, Splitter for Jaylen Brown and Hunter?

i'm all for Millsap at SF with a duo of Dwight and Horford, but Hawks should look into some good trades if they can get it. However, i wouldn't force a bad Millsap trade. I'm more than happy to go into next year with Al, Sap, and DH.

Hawks to make ‘strong push’ for Kevin Durant

I don't think it's a given that we'll "soon get" Horford by any means. In fact I'm very worried that he's about to sign elsewhere.

Horford may be gone, but he should demand a 5th year no matter where he goes...

He gets a Conly deal, 5/153, and Bud gets something in return.

I have zero issue going into camp with Sap next to D12. I just think he creates more space than if Al returns.

No 5th year available for Horford even in a SnT.

You don't change the perception of the Hawks and these Owners by not making the attempt even if rejected. It's not just for Durant for this year - it's for future free agents and the future.

I gotta say, I think our front office comes out of Free Agency looking even more inept than ever before.

Team begged to get a meeting with Durant and were denied.

The team did all they could to re-sign their 'franchise' player and reportedly loss him over a relatively minor amount. ($6+ million by some accounts.)

I do like the Dwight acquisition. But, it's difficult to say the perception of our braintrust is improved.

This doesn't even take into account the conflicted view of us reaching in the lottery or paying a career backup top money.

Do we believe future Free Agents will look at our franchise NOW in a better light?

The Dwight acquisition working does far more to improve the franchise's standing than maintaining the status quo by retaining Horford.
