Ultimately, I think this is what management is banking on. A bigger name player being used to recruit other big name players and forming a Super Team.

Not the worst idea. Here's legitimately hoping it works...

Cause it's one hell of a gamble.

Yeah I agree Dwight could be seen to recruit other big name players to come to Atlanta. But I don't agree with you when you say "It's one hell of a gamble." lol. If they had not done this, we keep the same team as the last 2 years and continue to be beaten by Cleveland? To me this isn't really even a gamble, just forward thinking. We used to get punished on the inside by teams with big guys that could rebound. But when you play an elite team like Cleveland that has a guy like Tristan Thompson, you better be able to rebound the basketball or you have no shot. And also you better be able to protect the rim, because Kyrie and Lebron and company will be attacking the basket.

And for the love of basketball, cause we plays play Hardaway Jr. at shooting guard instead of can't guard anybody and can't get open anymore Kyle Korver? Man that spot has got to be sured up with a guy that is somewhat athletic and can shoot the ball. Korver is no way a starter in this league. Coming off the bench with the 2nd unit yes, a starter? No!

Teague and Horford leaving was needed in one way or another to see this team try to improve. Had we kept our roster intact, it's a 45-50 win team, at best.

I like our moves, including keeping Baze's athleticism on the roster. His offense is better than DMC, and our new 3s have a shot at a starting slot, all dependent on their defense.

D12 and Sap could be the best combo in the league. If DS matches just matches what Teague accomplished, we are in as good shape as last year. Dwight hitting FTs would be a huge way to avoid any drop off from what Al accomplished.

Have we found a PG yet and have we resigned the Hump?

Yeah, this is absolutely alarming.

Our main issue last season was offense...and yet we've downgraded in offensive skillset.

Last year we couldn't knock down open jumpers...and now we feature a team of worst jump shooters?

Bigger picture: We won 60 games in 2015. Now 3/5 of that team is gone.

Horford/Demarre/Teague >>>>>> Howard/Bazemore/Dennis

I think what I said came across wrong.

What I meant was:

The idea that we went from Teague and Horford to Dennis and Howard is a flawed assessment. In reality, without trading Teague we don't have the cap space to bring back Baze. So it should be we went from Teague and Horford to Dennis, Baze, and Howard.

Whether you see that as a positive or not is up for interpretation.

What is true is the fact that we were 24th in the league in rpg. Howard average 4.5 more rpg than Al did. If we just replace Al's trb with Dwight's trb, we would have been 5th.

Right, but partially : we would be without Prince, and would have need to cut some unguaranteed contract.

Prince is at 2M, Teague was 8M. 6M difference and we have 9M of cap space right now without Scott (3.3M), Musacala (1M) and Patterson (0.9M).
So it's better to say it would Teague or Prince+Scott

We have Dennis/Prince/Scott/Howard , we could have Dennis/Teague/Howard (but with same old fight problem between both PGs)
In both cases, Bazemore was/is here.

Right, but a bit less sure that Horford/Demarre/Teague in 2016-17 is better than Howard/Bazemore/Dennis in 2016-17...

The caveat to that was exactly what you just said though, we completely and ONLY relied on jumpers. We have virtually no inside game, we had to hit open shots and when we couldnt, we had little answer outside an Al elbow jumper or Millsap driving 1 on 2.

Now you have a legit chance at scoring 15-20 points off DUNKS and putbacks. Thats a HUGE lift off the other players. Hopefully, in theory, you wont be relying so heavily on just the jump shots not.

I second this. Al started out as a PF who was filling our need for a center. For the last 9 years we were without a legit big man. There is reason to be excited for this season. More things need to happen, but I am encouraged by this offseason so far. I am tired of the same ol boring offseason where we stay stagnant. I am glad they are finally shaking things up
