Game Thread: Hawks at Pacers

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Wed Nov 23, 2016 2:52 pm

This is a matchup I've looked forward to all summer -- maybe even since Dennis was drafted.

Teague time vs Nintendo DS.
Read on Twitter

The Indiana Pacers will host the Atlanta Hawks in an Eastern Conference showdown on Wednesday night.

The Hawks are off to a strong start at 9-5, while the Pacers come in at 7-8. Both teams are coming off blowout losses .

The good news for the Pacers is that they are 6-0 at home when Paul George plays. The bad news: They're 0-3 at home when he sits, and he's listed as questionable for this game.

Jeff Teague will be playing against his former team for the first time. Teague is averaging 15.7 points and 6.4 assists in his first season as a Pacer. New Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder is averaging 14.5 points and 5.7 assists.

During the three-game losing streak, the Hawks have failed to score 100 points. This game figures to highlight defense. Coming into Tuesday, both teams were in the top four in steals and top eight in blocked shots in the NBA.

I'm so grateful that we play again so soon after that abomination last night. If we win that game doesn't have to linger.

Indeed.

I hope they make the move permanent.

He's been exceptional this season.

Led by 17 at one point, go to the half up by 5. Why? Because they fell in love with the 3.

Yep. Live by the three. Die by the three.

The offense has fallen apart this last week. And Schroeder had played particularly poorly this last week. There's a direct correlation here.

This is the time when a Veteran PG like Jameer, Devin or Jarrett Jack would be invaluable.

Once again... after 3 quarters
Dennis : Minus-9 in 22min
Delaney : Plus-16 in 13min

Dennis should be focused on impact only...

And... Prince at Plus-16 in 10min
I hope Bud let them play in the 4th

We've dominated the offensive boards tonight and gotten a ton of second chance points.

That's the way you play basketball. Grind it out for tough wins.

We have a real center at last. And are a blue collar team as a result.

I like it.

Well kept them at arm's length, and Dennis didn't close.

Dennis back in the game in the fourth, IND came back at 7pts.
Dennis throws a stupid pass on the glass, then benched by Bud, then Delaney hits a big shot to stop IND comeback.

In the end, Delaney with Plus-26, and Dennis Minus-16... he has lots of potential, but he needs to find his rythm with other starters, "wake up Dennis".

Overall, it's a good win and like Jamaaliver said, there was a real center ;-)

The Hawks won tonight playing bully-ball. I legitimately never thought I'd type these words...

I love reading it, man.

I just wish we had a wing scorer capable of taking over games during key stretches. That's pretty much all we're missing.

Rudy Gay is someone I had my eye on as a potential trade candidate before the season, but with only one year left on his contract I definitely wouldn't be willing to trade a first.

I suggested giving an offer centered around Splitter/Thabo/2nds but don't think that would move the needle very much.

Another poor shooting night for the Hawks and Dennis is struggling again. Both of these need to be fixed if the Hawks want to be considered as one of the elite teams in the east.

This is Dennis' 5th bad or sub par game, this really needs to change.

Very good road win.
We destroyed Indy on the boards.
