Mike Scott is back with the Hawks

Hawks pick up the option on Mike Scott and will be on the team this season.

Scott has been a solid backup to Millsap the last two seasons. Scott was also probably the second best player for the Hawks in the Boston series.

Coach Budz seems to have a soft spot for Scott, and his game as a stretch 4 who is great at running the floor seems to fit into coach Budz system well.

Scott has had some legal problems as of late, but that doesn't seem to affect Budz's opinion of Scott for this up coming season.

I will say the cost is cheap to retain him, but has he peaked as a solid contributor?

His off the court has to be a distraction, but sounds like Bud will back him til the end.

I truly don't think we would have missed him going forward.

Tyler Johnson hasn't been announced yet so I don't know deadline passing means Mike Scott is back.

The Hawks made an official announcement after picking up Muscala's option, I would assume they'll do the same with Scott.

The Hawks do this all the time, they make fans sweat over whether they even offered QOs to guys. They don't give AF about the media and C-Viv in particular to be bothered about official announcements.

I think it's pretty clear why the Hawks have declined to make a formal announcement for the time being:

Hawks forward Mike Scott pled not guilty to a pair of felony drug charges on Tuesday.

Scott was formally charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule 1 drug by the Banks County district attorney’s office stemming from his arrest in July 2015.

Scott could face up to 25 years in prison after he and his younger brother Antonn were stopped along I-85 in Homer last summer.

Per the incident report, Scott took full responsibility for the drugs in the car and said his brother had no prior knowledge of the material.

Who wants to make an announcement and address this type of headache just to confirm that a player who was under contract...is still under contract?

If only he had kept his mouth shut and immediately asked for his attorney when detained. It's likely nothing stated afterward would be deemed admissible in court.

Scott can afford a high priced lawyer. Scott's lawyer must have a plan on how to handle this for Scott, to either make it go away, or minimize it as much as possible.

A source close to the situation said Scott’s case would not be heard until sometime in the fall. The Hawks have declined to comment on Scott’s legal situation.
