With Dennis avg 17 ppg and 6 apg on 37% 3-pt shooting through the first 1/3 of the season, I have to ask...

Is he already outplaying his new contract extension?

He's avg 24 ppg and 7 apg in his last 5 games. (Hawks are 3-2)

21 ppg and 7 apg in his last 10 games. (Hawks are 4-6)

20 ppg and 8 apg for the month of December. (Hawks are 4-5)

And he's outpacing his career shooting numbers across the board.

Can we imagine how much we'd be looking to pay this kid had we let him reach Restricted Free Agency?
Some desperate team would undoubtedly be offering a max contract to the young German approaching his prime years, right?
$15+ million per year for an All Star caliber PG is a bargain in the new Free Agent market, is it not?

I don't know if he can lead us to the promised land, but this kid's production on this contract makes him one of the best bargains in the league...

Or am I just reading too much into some pretty stellar play at a much too early juncture?

You're certainly right on the fact that is outplaying his contract, but only for his personal stats.
His production seems to match his contract, but not not how the team is playing with him on the floor, at least on a consistent basis, and also on his opponent PG production, even if doesn't mean a lot alone (opponent PG can produce more than Dennis but if the other four guys don't, the team can benefits from this)

He's still in big negative Plus-Minus. I don't want him to produce more stats, I hope the team will produce more with him, and that's what we definitely make his contract a great one.

At least, he's half the way to really outplay his contract, it could be worst ;-)
