Well, looks like the Nets simply forced the Blazers and Heat to overpay for guys that would never lead your team.

I have always wanted the ASG to force other teams to overpay even if we couldn't wrangle them to ATL.

Both Crabbe and Johnson will be pressured to produce more now after these deals. The Heat have taken a huge risk with that deal going forward.

Bazemore was on radio this morning - I missed most. He said something about playing SG more.

Good, like i have been saying for a year, SG is his natural position and Hawks drafted two SF.

Yeah, it's clear Taurean Prince is the SF of the future.

And with this new 4 year commitment, Baze is the future at SG.

Their collective skillsets appear to be good fits alongside a ball-dominant, erratic shooting PG like Dennis...still unsure about Dwight and Millsap fitting in with DS, though.

(NOTE: I really wish we had drafted Bobby Portis last summer instead of trading for THJ. There doesn't seem to be a long-term place for Hardaway with the signing of Baze and the drafting of Bembry, Prince and Cordinier. But long-term, there does appear to be a need at PF in the coming years.)

For where we are right now, I will be thrilled watching us play 2 rookies at the 3, simply for the fact that it gives us 2 guys with good size to compete.

Baze will be best served at the 2, and let Kyle and THJ fight for any leftover minutes.

I think our 3 of Sap, DS and Dwight will work out quite well; 3 diff sets of skills where all 3 have plenty of offense to provide points for us. I'm really interested in how dedicated Dwight will become and prove it even at the FT line. No more Hack-a-Dwight!

I know it's only preseaon but Barnes as been some kinda horrible:

12-51 (24%)FG ...
3-16 (19%) 3pt ...
5 assists TOTAL matched by 5 turnovers
He is averaging 6.7 ppg in about 20 mins per game so far.

Baze at $15 mil is kinda nice compared to Barnes at $22 mil.

Barnes has always been overrated going back to his college days. Even playing playing in the warriors system where he is spoonfed open shots all game he disappears quite often. I never understood why some people said he had star potential.

One season later, can we all agree the Bazemore signing was a very poor decision with long-term, negative implications for our franchise?

I have to think that this move epitomized the flaw in having a HC as Pres of BBall Ops. It was such a short-sighted decision to bring this guy back on a ridiculously fat contract.

Especially after drafting Taurean and Bembry.

Already said it, but sure it was part of a "fan favorite" signing.
But with two rookies on the same spot, and the fact that it was what cost to loose Horford caphold and the impossibility to make him an offer without trading at least 9M of contract, it was a really bad move.
At least they should have wait some days, and then sign him for a lower contract or let him walk, because they knew the system was overvaluing ATL wings like it was with Carroll

^
Kent Bazemore is receiving money that would be going to someone else with possibly even less productivity. I have no problem with him being on our team and playing in Atlanta until he becomes a free agent again.

add Harrison Barnes to that list too.
Some preferred Batum at the max than Baze. Imagine how that would play now.

It was brought up on the Dallas board what it would take to trade Harrison Barnes. Several Dallas fans said they wouldn't trade him unless it was for a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft. So, some view him highly..lol

Yeah. KB is a good dude. But I'd much rather be paying Harrison Barnes or Batum.

They are each overpaid, but they at least are capable of All Star production.

I'd much rather be getting identical production from Justin Holliday...for a quarter of the price!

You can mediocre production without paying a premium price for it.
