The last time we had dealings with the Suns and compensation it caused a fracture in the ASG ownership group.....ehy it always gotta be something with this team.

the ASG was fractured anyways. the Joe Johnson scenario was just the first opportunity to show it. I think its the same in this case, Schlenk and Bud were going to part ways regardless, this is just how it played out first.

There is just no way PHX would ever do that, and I'd be willing to bet our ownership would be more than happy to save 14 mil over the next 2 years if we aren't going to be very good on top of the fact it appears Bud wants out.

You want a top 5-7 coach. You want that, you must offer the value for it. It's that simple.

16th pick
Pick swap highest one for 1st for 4th. Or Unprotected 1st round pick in 2019.

You cant get a great coach for a happy meal. You must pay the piper.

I get where you are coming from and I don't want to lose Bud especially for pretty much nothing, but I just don't see any way that would ever happen. Bud is a great coach but there is no way if it was reversed I would pick swap 1/4 or give up #16 to get him, especially in the west on a rebuilding timeline. As much as I'd love to eat a whole lotta crow and be totally wrong it feels like too much.

Nothing wrong if you are wrong or I am wrong. Always ride with how you value him.

This is what Suns fans are trying to do. This is what Hawks fans should do.

How much do you value Bud?

Depends on if he wants out or not for my valuation. Hawks U has been great, he took us to the ECF and won 60 games not that long ago. Even his poached ex-assistants Atkinson and Snyder have been doing well for themselves. I think it would be a huge mistake to lose him but if he has made it clear he wants out there isn't much we can do about it. If he was open to staying my value jumps up dramatically. It's almost like a star player who wants out the return is always less than it should be, and with coaches it is most likely even less than that. I do not want him to leave but the signs are pointing to him wanting to leave and the Front Office being ok with that, doesn't really put us at the strongest bargaining point is all I'm saying.

Top 10 unprotected at least if he wants to be here. If he 100% wants out, a late first or a couple seconds.

You know damn well you couldn’t name 4 better coaches in this league. Bud is a top 3 head coach in the NBA in my opinion.

Ps If we are talking 1999 motivated Doc coaching the Orlando Magic, yes yes and yes. That Doc was special. This poor Doc, well, let’s just say the flies are circling above...

When does Stotts get some recognition for making borderline teams, 4 seeds in the west? He has a better resume than Snyder and Atkinson.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
