Poll on draft trades for pick

Post#1 » by tbhawksfan1 » Fri Jun 8, 2018 7:54 pm

I've listed a choice of talked about cap for pick senarios. Which one will we get and after you vote maybe propose the trade you see happening.

I said Philly. I think we can pry that pick from
them since they know they can’t use it to trade for Kawhi and they have enough cap space to go for Lebron so I’m thinking they may not value that pick that much.

Would love to have #10. What's the trade?

I’d say Philly and the Nuggs but voted Nuggs since Philly is east.

I'm thinking Philly, Den and Mil all have legs.

Philly needs to move Bayless and make moves to go to the top of the East. Picks are less priority for them now.
Den has some bad salary and is in win now mode.
Mil is also in win now and Bud might want to bring in a system player.

One of these needs to happen so that we can maybe combine above pick with #30 or #34. I want Doncic and Carter and two more picks

Why do you want Carter? He’s overrated.

I think it'll be hard to move into top 10.
Cavs wont trade #8 until LBJ makes a decision.
NYK should hold unto their pick and tank since Porzingis might be out for the season
Phiily at #10 is a wild card.

Possibilities for salary dumps:
Gallo and #13
Faried and #14 for our #30
Mahinmi and #15
Henson and #17
Gasol and #18
Dieng and #21
Bayless and #26
Burks and #24
John Luer plus 2019 1st from Detroit.

Still love the Denver one the most. Spurs might be interesting as well with Lebron rumored to go there.

The Denver trade is too good to be true. Grabbing a late lotto pick in exchange for absorbing one bad year of salary is a great deal.

I still think we'll likely have to give something back to get that trade done. (#30, multiple future 2nd rounders, etc.)

Here's the thing, Hawks don't have capspace to make an deal before the draft. It'll be a deal.in principle. I don't know how difficult it makes it in trying to combine say #14 and #19 to move up higher.

I always look back to recent deals.
Jazz traded Trey Lyles (former #12) and pick #24 to move up to #13 last draft.
If Dennis hadn't tanked his value, him and #19 should have given us a good late lotto jump.
I think we'd have to include Prince or Collins with #19 to move up and that's not worth it to me. I'm not that enamored enough with any prospects from 8-12 to do that.

If Carter slides out of the top 10, he would entice me to try. Same for Trey though much more unlikely.

I included our #30.
However, Denver is really in a tight spot. They need Chandler and Arthur ($20 mil) to decline their player options desperately. They don't have full bird rights on Jokic so they need to clear capspace to resign him this offseason for about $25 mil. or pick up his $1.6 mil team option and he becomes an UFA next offseason. Will Barton also due an extension.

Hmmm ...

Do we simply sit on our hands and see if this ends up in Jokic sliding out of DEN? Hmmmm, IIUC his brother is his agent or is at least heavily involved. Could be a volatile situation if he doesn't get what he wants. Hmmmm ...

Thought it was Prozy's brother who was agent? I'm not certain.
That's why Denver is in a squeeze. Other teams are trying to clear space to sign other guys, others are trying to get out of the luxury tax, others are trying not to get there at all.

I know that's true about Zingo but I vaguely recall Jokic's brother(s) are heavily involved in his representation as well. IIUC, he lives in a house with his brothers so it's like a madhouse or something like that. Here's a story so I don't seem totally crazy ... unlike Brad says ....

Anyways, agree DEN is in a bad spot here. No need for us to help them more than they'd be helping us. Shiiiii, they ain't SAS and Buttenz ain't here no more. #NoMoreSweetheartDealsBro

Just an FYI, but this isn't true.

That is correct, I had a brain fart.
It's match any RFA offer and be over the cap if Chandler opts in or risk him being pissed off in 2019 by picking up his $1.6 mil oprion this year and he becomes an UFA.

Nugs but the price needs to be more reasonable. 30/34 is reasonable.
