Yes we are for now and the future keeps getting brighter.

John Collins was already playing at a All Star level and the past 30 days he is getting HOF type stats:
.557 from the field, .412 from three, 21.0 PPG, 12.6 RPG.

Trae is not playing bad for a rookie and his past two weeks are really on point ( corny pun ).
.468 from the field, .500 from three, 14.6 PPG, 8.7 AST, 1.1 Steals. For those who think he might be just in a hot spell from three, he is shooting a cool .391 from three over the past 30 days. I really think next season, Trae is going to turn into a stone cold assassin in the fourth quarter.

Huerter has shown some good chops and he should be even better by the end of the year. It would be asking a lot for him to improve as much as Collins has in his 2nd year; but I am excited about the possibility.

Progress and hopefully two good picks coming up. 2021/22 is the year we make a move; if one is even needed.

Not sure how much clarity things bring to the topic.

Travis Schlenk wrote:We’re at a point in our development where we’re going to take the best player.

...The one thing is...you can find talent anywhere in the draft. It’s all about having the picks to do it. Second-round picks can be extremely valuable...

Draft. Draft. Draft. Draft... then sign or trade!

Philly: Drafted Simmons, Embiid, and traded for Butler. They missed on MCW, Noel, and Okafor tho.

Warriors: Drafted Curry, Thompson, and Green and signed Durant and Cousins.

Hawks: Drafted Young and Collins... We are at about step 3 in a 12-step program. lol We have a ways to go.

I'd say Warriors signing Igudola and Bogut were pretty important to make them contenders.

Why are we even mentioning Philadelphia in the conversation? That franchise isn't very good. They have elite talents that don't fit.

We should be modeling our rebuild after either GSW or Boston. Period. This iteration of 76ers hasn't even surpassed our Hawks under Bud, Horford and Millsap.

Philly is just the most recent to go through what we are going through. That's the only reason posters mention them.

Not...really.

Teams rebuild all the time. And Philly did a p!ss poor job on theirs.

Indy, LA Clippers and Boston managed to rebuild their entire rosters less painfully. And it didn't take half a decade to get there.

NOTE: We're not engaging in a Philly style 'Process'. We're rebuilding, but we're not approaching the depths of ineptitude of what the 76ers did.

Philly messed up their rebuild when they fired Hinkie. Epic mistake.

They got Embiid and Simmons, both are young and under contract. Philly has time time to figure things out.

I'm pretty sure Hinkie:

  • drafted Michael Carter Williams over Giannis.
  • Drafted Okafor over Porzingis.
  • Traded Jrue Holiday for Noel Nerlens (and Dario Saric).

His team won only 10 games in his final and 4th season with the organization.

The guy had more misses than hits and his team got worse under his tenure.

Why model after anyone. Whoever did it copied someone before them anyways. Just made smart decisions on every decision you make. Don’t complicate things.

Specially not the Celtics as they are dying on the table. I’m overjoyed.

Schlenk reiterated his philosophy that the Hawks will build through the draft.

What we did in Golden State is what we are trying to do here,” Schlenk said. “We never really were terrible. We were winning 30-some games, staying competitive, so when you get the last month of the season you are in the playoff hunt. But when you get your draft picks, you’ve got to be right."
