Collins needs a rim protector who can shoot 3s. JJJ, Myles Turner would be perfect. Looking at the draft, Bol is the only guy I can see that would work perfectly with Collins and Young. If Bol can just be Porziņģis or a poor man's Porziņģis, that would do alot for Collin's game.

The perfect center for Collins would be Cousins... but not Cousins. Dedmon fits into that mold with his recent 3pt game, but isn't a long-term answer.

If you're looking for the major flaw in J Collins game...look no further:
With that in mind, I think we need a low usage, shot-blocking, 3-point-shooting defender next to him ideally.
Serge Ibaka, Myles Turner, Wendell Carter, Jr. come to mind.
(Ibaka could be available if Kawhi departs TOR this summer.
Wendell could be available if CHI drafts Zion at #1 and sees Z and Lauri as their front court of the future.
Myles might be available now.)

Prince for Turner makes sense. We get a center that can play with Collins, they get a wing that can play next to Oladipo and allow them to start Sabonis. Having to pay Turner after this season kind of sucks, but his deal is good at 4 years 72 million.Jamaaliver wrote:If you're looking for the major flaw in J Collins game...look no further:

Re: What type of future big man should the Atlanta Hawks look to pair with John Collins?
I would strongly consider acquiring Thon Maker for a run as Collins frontcourt partner. He has the size/agility to play center, the speed to guard on the perimeter and enough range on his jumper to make defenders pay should they leave him unattended at the 3-pt line.
I wouldn't pay much for him. But we need size and youth.
Would a swap for he and Dedmon be worth it? Maybe throw in our lowest 2nd rounder this year -- currently pick #46.
