Only thing I figure was Pierce didn't vouch for Fultz, and they figured his injury was not worth the risk. Oh well, the offseason provides opportunities for some moves.

We need to be contending for the playoffs....next year. Not this year.

We need to be in the playoffs next year. No reason why we should be past Miami and Charlotte.

SIxers were able to use the Hawks and were able to coerced a first round pick from Orlando for Fultz. Good thing the Hawks didn't bit and hung up on the Sixers when they were asking for more than 2nd round picks.

The Magic did make a trade involving a point guard Thursday afternoon. Orlando acquired former No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz.

The Hawks’ interest was legitimate. They offered Cleveland’s 1-10 protected first-round pick. It’s unclear which player(s) were included in the offer. That pick will not convey this year and the same protection remains in place for next year’s draft before converting to two second-round picks, which is likely going to happen with the way the Cavaliers are built right now.

Atlanta would have been more inclined to make a better offer for Fultz last year with Dennis Schröder as its point guard instead of Trae Young. But the organization has been pleased with the rookie’s growth and felt an offer that exceeded the Magic’s was too risky given the uncertainty surrounding Fultz’s NBA future and whether or not he’ll ever meet the potential that was expected of him two drafts ago.

^ Tyus Battle will become a better NBA combo guard than Fultz and Battle can be had in the second round if the Hawks want him.

You have two flawed picks with the OKC pick they took and the Cleveland pick we offered. Both are serious risks not to convey but I suppose with Cleveland looking like garbage for the next couple years that ours is the higher risk and therefore less valuable even though it is only top 10 protected and can convey in one of two remaining years compared to top 20 protected that has only a one year window.

So we made a comparable offer to Orlando and they preferred the Orlando package.

I'm ok with what we tried here.

As great of a college scorer he was, he was still a very poor free throw shooter in college. This explains why he (and Lonzo Ball) are such poor shooters in the NBA.

Tatum on the other hand was shooting 87% from the free throw line at Duke.

Lonzo's form has always been so ugly that it makes sense to me. While Fultz's FT% in college wasn't good and is a red flag, it doesn't remotely explain all the issues he has had. Ball's path and struggles was a very probable next step for his career. The craziness that has been around Fultz is unprecedented and one of the biggest mysteries in recent years in the NBA. What is physical? What is technique? What is mental? ???
