Went to the Hawks game, the earliest tip I've ever attended in my life, and it looked awful at the start. Down 23 early, and had Giannis played I have no doubt that we wouldn't have gotten closer than 15 the rest of the afternoon. But with no Giannis, Middleton, Brogdon, we were given a chance to come back when their 3 stopped falling.
Starting Justin Anderson seemed like a big tank move but he was our best player on the floor today imo. His hustle in tracking down offensive rebounds was all we seemingly had in the first quarter until Bembry came in and gave us a shot in the arm with his energy. Coach Pierce proceeded to sit Bembry until the 4th after his monstrous run in the second further indicating that this looked to be a tank game.
Trae's shot didn't fall but he still managed to rack up 16 assists and then hit two shots when it mattered most. I was definitely rooting for an L, but I can't ever be mad with a game where Trae wins it with a buzzer beater. 1 turnover for Trae today. A 16/1 assist/turnover ratio is his best of the season.
The win could've been catastrophic but luckily the Mavs won. They were 1-12 in March with Luka, and 2-0 without him.
