I really like this young man. After next summer's draft, we'll likely be stacked on the wings with with young talent. I truly hope he emerges from that pack and stakes a claim in the rotation for years to come.

Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce has made no secret about the primary reason the team drafted Huerter: To shoot the basketball. So far the Maryland product has done that, hitting 39 percent of his 3-pointers in his young career, but this week he also displayed some serious playmaking ability that could be an added bonus. Huerter made some nifty passes to the roll man coming off of dribble hand-offs, and he's now dished out four assists in each of his last four games.

I can’t find the Huerter thread so I will write in this one /- that Dwayne Wade moment was such a great thing. One of my favorite players acknowledging one of the young players I would most like to see succeed. And then Huerter turning around and saying the perfect respectful things about DWade and also how he’d like to be a lifetime Hawk like Wade was a lifetime Heat

How can you not love this kid

I really think Huerter is as important to the heart/soul of this team as anyone

“Obviously, us No. 3s got to stick together. But I've been watching this kid grow from the preseason on to now, and I like his game. I think his game can go to another level, as well. I always want to be someone that a player like that can count on, can reach out to. That was a cool moment for me," said Wade.

Huerter, who grew up wearing Wade's Converse sneaker, chose his number 3 jersey number partly as a tribute to Wade.

"He's always done it the right way. You never hear him with off-court type of stuff. He brought championships to this city. He's been with the Heat for the majority of his career. He's been loyal to them. And as a guy coming up, a young guy, starting out with the Hawks, I hope I can continue a long career with them. The league's going to miss him, for sure," added Huerter.
