In cold straight-up 2019 draft terms, what's a Prince worth?

Post#1 » by _s_t_u_r_t_ » Sat Jun 1, 2019 3:06 pm

In the 2015 draft, in effect, the Hawks obtained THjr from the Knicks for a 19th pick in that draft.

So, I'm intrigued to measure the wisdom of this board... if Schlenk trades Prince on draft night straight-up, what's a slot where you think the value would be straight-up even for both teams?

That same #19 slot?... 2 slots higher? 2 slots lower? 4 slots higher? 4 slots lower? 6 higher? 6 lower?

(I'll save my opinion for later.)

In 2017, SAC and POR exchanged a #10 for a #15 and #20.... so that's a pretty wide range from #10 to #15... so please indulge me and give me a single number.

There's obviously no penalty for being wrong, no award for being right. Throw something out there.

I stand by 10(well 11) to 15. Anything lower than 15 isn't worth it but you wont get better than 10.

C'mon. Too much hedging. There's a huge difference between #10 and #15, as demonstrated already. What's he worth to YOU if you were asked by Schlenk for YOUR opinion?

I'll say 15.

I can't see a team offering higher than 15-20 for him.

I honestly don't get the hedging, guys. Just say a number. You wouldn't trade a #15 for a #20 straight up, or I hope you wouldn't.

Prince’s contract has a lot of value for contending teams over the cap. He’s still on his rookie deal so they can trade almost any filler for him and then extend him to his market value (~$12 to $15 mil a year?). He’s one of the best set three point shooters in league and is big enough to move down to PF in lineups. That’s why I think the Hawks will hold out for a good return. I would take 14 or higher for him or package him with 10 to move up to 4. Would be a good deal for the Lakers if they can’t get AD. Hawks would then get Culver.

So, to be clear, you're saying you think he's worth a 14... ?

So let me be clearer.....the difference in value between 1 and 5 is much greater than between 11-15. He isn't worth a top 10 pick based on his decision making, lack of handles. but he is worth up to 11. I'm saying 11 but the trade range value for him is 11-15. That said, no I'm not trading him for anyone in this draft outside of the top 3 or 4.

That's all I needed, your straight-up slot number on what he's worth if we were trading him asset for asset. Thanks.

I'd be satisfied with something in the teens. Not expecting way too much.
