You have more of a point that I'd realized. Unfortunately, it's more that I'd given Hield more credit than I should have, as opposed to failing to give Dinwiddie his due.

Of the two, I'd personally prefer Dinwiddie. But still, there's few who would argue that it's at least reasonable to think that the 6th pick overall from just 4 years ago has more likelihood of proving he hasn't hit his ceiling yet, whereas the 38th pick from 6 years ago probably has shown you everything he's got.

And regardless, the major point here is that, unless/until Schlenk commits to a major (read "pricey") addition this off-season such that he's not needing to ensure he has cap space for that kind of addition in the 2021 off-season, it would not be reasonable to think he would commit to a player whose number will be an obstacle in that 2021 free agency market.

Fair enough, I think the contract situation might sway the argument for Hawks in favor of Hield, but I do consider Dinwiddie to be the better player, and he is someone who is improved each year in the league, despite being a 2nd round pick. I like Hield too though.
