ATL would just need to be tied with CLE as they have the tiebreaker over them
The main thing to avoid is a tie with BKN, in two-way or with more teams.

The ELO and RAPTOR projections have diverged by a couple of games most of the season but have finally started to converge as we near the end of the season:

7. Cavs (45-37)
8. Nets (43-39)

Tonight was perfect: PHI just beat CLE, so CLE have now 36L with 3 games left
ATL have 37L with 4 games to play
They just need CLE to loose game more than ATL to be tied with them and get the 7th spot
Now, in case of a W, they would play against the 2nd seed, and at this moment, BOS, MIL and PHI and tied with 30L (BOS has one more W with one more game played)

Don't know what opponent would be the best matchup for ATL, I think TV would want PHI for sure after last year series

Huh? I’m sorry but no. OO needs more time for sure but it’s not because we want to develop him it’s because he’s good and he’s earned it and one of our best players, ya I said it.

Plus, why would you put a ceiling on our Hawks that went to the ECF last year, granted we are struggling but it’s a marathon, just because we might be in the play in DOESNT mean we are done. Lots of ball left.

I've checked the tiebreakers for a potential tie with both BKN and CLE, as play against each other on Friday.
If ATL win Vs MIA, they can all be tied (with one game left after that)
ATL are 1-2 Vs BKN and 3-1 Vs CLE: 4-3 and it won't change
BKN are 2-1 Vs ATL and 2-1 Vs CLE with one game left: will finish 5-2 or 4-3
CLE are 1-3 Vs ATL and 1-2 Vs BKN with one game left: will finish 2-6 or 3-4

So if ATL beat MIA and BKN beat CLE, CLE would be 9th, BKN 7th and ATL 8th on Saturday

Now, including all remaining games...
CHA play Vs ORL tonight and CHI tomorrow, so there's a hope they lost tomorrow on back-to-back, then they finish the season Vs WAS
BKN play Vs CLE on Friday, then IND on Sunday
CLE play Vs BKN on Friday, then MIL on Sunday
ATL play Vs MIA on Friday, then HOU on Sunday

Lots of possibilities, but
- if ATL win both games:
they are sure to be 8th at worst (BKN would be one game behind if they loss Vs CLE, and if they win, CLE are tied with ATL and ATL have the tiebreaker)
ATL can be 7th if CLE beat BKN and then loose Vs MIL

- if ATL loose Vs MIA and win Vs HOU:
CHA have to win their 3 games to be tied with ATL
CLE have to loose their 2 games to be tied with ATL
BKN have to loose 1 game to be tied with ATL (but have most of tiebreakers)

don't want to check if ATL loose both games, it has to not happen, and I don't see how there could be a 4-way tie

So they would have been 8th today if they won Vs MIA.
Now, the last chance to finish 8th is a W Vs HOU tomorrow, and a L for CLE

If tied with CLE (L for them and L for CHA), ATL are 8th
If tied with CLE and CHA (L for them and W for CHA), ATL are 8th
And if tied with CLE, CHA and BKN (with a L for CLE and BKN and W for CHA), ATL are also 8th

So he's a bit saying that he had this mindset, but players didn't... it should not help him on the fact that he could fix some stupid plays that we saw in a lot of games, and as it was the same stupid plays, there was enough of a sample to see this and fix it.
But it should been enough for him to secure his job for next season, unless he gets clearly out coached in play-in/playoffs
