Yeah, you can always find a point guard-sized shooting guard who's not a defender and who can't really run an offense every year in the 2nd round. Why trade for one?

yea that's a horrible trade. Both players suck on offense, but at least one can help out defensively. I'll stick with that guy.

Shiiiii, I don't even like Skylar Mays much but he's better than Coby White and he's a 2nd round rookie.

Speaking of dudes taken high, anyone remember Cody Zeller was taken at like #4 in his draft? Whoo, good for him but yuck for the team that drafted him.

The Best Trade Every NBA Team Can Actually Make This Offseason

Image

Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon

Indiana Pacers Receive: SF Cam Reddish, SG Kevin Huerter, G Kris Dunn

Getting a big, defensive guard next to Trae Young in the backcourt would be an ideal scenario for the Hawks, with Brogdon able to take over playmaking duties at times as well.

A starting lineup of Young, Brogdon, De'Andre Hunter, John Collins (assuming he re-signs) and Clint Capela would be among the best in the East, especially with Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic coming off the bench.

For Indiana, taking a temporary step back from a disappointing season to load up with some young talent is probably the best move. Huerter (12.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 36.6 percent shooting from three in 49 starts) can thrive on or off the ball and Reddish, 21, still carries a ton of potential on both ends of the ball.

Dunn recently made his return to the court following arthroscopic surgery in December and is one of the NBA's best defensive guards when healthy.

Any interest in this guy midseason or next summer when that horrid contract is halfway over?

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31579933/nba-playoffs-2021-luka-doncic-superstar-ascent-created-table-dallas-mavericks

But Porzingis has been frustrated, often feeling more like an afterthought than a co-star as Doncic dominates the ball and the spotlight, sources told ESPN. He frequently made thinly veiled references during his postgame media availabilities such as saying the "ball actually moved tonight" after high-scoring performances or stating that the offense didn't involve him on low-scoring nights.

Kristaps, it just might be time to demand a trade and find a team that will give you all the freedom and spotlight you deserve.

No. He has $31, $33 and $36 million left. For someone concerned about paying JC, you want an injury prone big?

My thinking is Capela who is a fan favorite and pillar of the team is far too limited offensively for this team to be a title contender. Once we starting hitting that ceiling where changes need to be made, I suspect Capela will be one of the guys that's struggling.

Schlenk would need to be convinced KP will play with defensive effort but the gamble is too high, and it could very well blow up in his face.

I think it's more likely that Capela attempts one 3 pointer for the remainder of his contract than KP deciding to give defensive effort for the remainder of his, he is more concerned about his offense and getting touches.
With Trae you need a defensive minded Center and you supplement that with offense, shooters, scorers, ball handlers and length on the wings, like we have.

This is the conclusion I have as well. Ben and Trae would be perfect complements to each other.

If Hawks can keep Trae, Bogdan and Hunter while trading for Ben Simmons...that would an incredibly well balanced team made in the image of those great GSW teams from 6 years ago.

we need shooters around Trae. A lineup with Capela AND Simmons would be a lane clogging nightmare for Trae to try and navigate. Easy pass.

I didn't say anything about keeping Clint Capela.

I do love Clint Capela, but he ain't some irreplaceable part of this team. He's a secondary (or even tertiary) player at best. If I can acquire a more talented player (which Ben Simmons is), I'm not turning it down because of CC.

I still am of belief that we need one more dynamic scorer who can score and create for themselves. If we had another player like that we would had won last night… a player like Zach Lavine….. yeah i am back on it!!!

Lavine only has one more year on hus contract.

Trae, Lavine, Bogi, Hunter, Capela starting 5
December of 2019 “Trae Young Involved in 'Emotional' Locker Room Scene After Hawks Loss. Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is unsurprisingly getting tired of the team's struggles.”

Defense and size vs Philly is our problem. Going smaller is not the answer.

Simmons is good... most seem to say a top 20 player. Apart from the question of his fit on Hawks and what we'd have to give up to get him....there's is like a less than 0.000001% chance that Philly moves him. Any other ideas?

I feel bad for Colllins, he should have took that 90 million. We need to replace him with a legit sized pf asap. Is there any other 6 10 guy that can create for others besides Ben Simmons?

How would you guys feel if the Hawks were to replace Collins with Lauri Markkanen and attempt to trade for Lonzo Ball. maybe something like. 2021 first for Markkanen. Collins sign and trade for Ball sign and trade. Then cut/trade Gallo bring in another big (Drummond, Ibaka, or Enes Kanter). line up could look like this:

Trae/Ball
Ball/ Huerter
Bogi/ Hunter
Hunter/ Markkanen
Capela/ Kanter/ Markkanen

as I was reading over this..... I don't even like it myself
