I don't have enough 'likes' to like this idea enough. Sadly, that probably means Milwauk will balk  at the deal.

IIRC, they're irrationally high on Maker. The other KG said STTE that he could be an MVP-caliber player one day.

They'll probably want to do something like Henson for Dedmon.

I got the idea from the Bucks trade board - they are looking for' win now' pieces. Some like Maker, some things he's useless. wide ranging. Read from page 20 or so...viewforum.php?f=21
I'd need the Bucks 1st round pick to take Henson to any deal. They are already in cap hell - we'd be doing them a favor sending them Dedmon's expiring (likely).

Oh my sweet Jebus, there's folks there thinking they can get Markinnen(sp?) from CHI using Parker. :-?

Lakers fans seem to think we are a candidate for Deng because...you know...rebuilding :-? .
Anyway I told them we
Count Atlanta out - we already have Bazemore (sim. to Deng) and Plumlee's contract on the book for 2 more years. That is too much, almost half our cap tied up, too much financial INFLEXIBILITY with immovable contracts. Rather keep out capspace and hopefully facilitate another Jamal Crawford type deal - an immediate 1st as opposed to 3 and 5 years from now.
.

They countered with Deng and a protected 1st for Plumlee (besides the fact we can't take back Deng for Plumlee straight up). the pick would have be in 2020 - would you?

SMDH

Every trade including ATL is like, "Mmm well, Atlanta's rebuilding so they'll take back this crap-arse vet on a 8-year deal as long as we add a top-60 protected 2nd."

We're not a freaking farm team!!

  I keep telling them that.
Plus we will still have to account for salary of 3 2018 1st round picks, extensions for Bembry and Prince etc.

Please let the Bulls get Okafor...I would question Schlenk a bit if he traded for Okafor...so far Schlenk has been awesome.

It might just be me, but I'd celebrate Schlenk as a genius if he could garner Okafor for a 2nd rounder or less.

We've seen young players like Nurkic and D'Angelo Russell thrive in a new environment.

Okafor could see a similar resurgence. And if not, he'd walk away Ina few months: no harm no foul.

I totally understand it as far as value....Skill wise Okafor should be worth a 1st rounder no doubt. I just question the guy's character and work ethic. On day one, when the Sixers introduced him to the media, he kind of dropped his jersey and left....not professional...fast forward a couple of months and he gets arrested for a fight at a club. His game doesn't seem to fit our style or today's overall game in general. When I see Prince and Collins improve each game, I can tell they are working. If you look at a game from Okafor's rookie year and right now, there's very little improvement if he hasn't regressed.

When Dwight came here, most of us gave him a clean slate despite his checkered past...fool me once shame on you...twice, on us (Hawks).

But, that's the thing, it seems they're trying to hold out for a FRP. Why in the actual feck would we pay that for a guy who's quite possibly gonna be bought out or, at the very least, will likely be available to sign for cheap(ish) this offseason?

Oh, they no doubt are asking for a 1st rounder.

But, with Okafor's option being declined, there seems no chance that happens--because he'll be unrestricted next summer.

Declining his option largely guaranteed they'd get little to no value in return.

Bryan Colangelo has completely bungled this issue.

Agree it's been bungled. Seems he's on his way to bungling Fultz as well.

They knew they didn't want Okafor well before his value had been diminished but held onto him juuuust long enough to kill whatever value he had left.

Did we finally agree on something? :P

As I aaid before, I'd be ok giving up the Portland 2020 2nd rounder protected 31-55 that we got from Cavs to take a flyer and see if he can be salvaged.

Hey, I get it. I do offer a bit of a reprieve for childish mistakes guys make as teenagers

These mistakes are red flags to monitor, no doubt.

But 19 year olds do dumb things. Embiid had some...issues as well at that same age.

Definitely something to keep an eye on. But he's just now hitting the age where he should emerge as the player/man he's meant to be.

NOTE: Nothing is more enlightening, more humbling, more instructive -- than failure.

Let's see how the young man responds to all this adversity.

Honestly, this "report" that the Hawks are a potential landing spot for Okafor smells like PHI trying to use us to drive up CHI's offer.

Don't trus' it, Bulls.

Extra snug around the midsection?

(Kidding, IIUC he's actually lost a lot of weight.)
