Potentially picking 2nd instead of 1st isn't the end of the world but if we begin falling out of the range of Doncic or Ayton then this terrible season we're suffering through will be completely diminished.

The trade deadline can't get here quick enough.

Sometimes you just can't help yourself. Example: Orlando won last night!

I've noticed that there is many articles urging the Hawks to trade Dedmon but no one ever mentions Miles Plumlee.
Could he be too expensive for all those teams who are trying so hard to get into the playoffs?

So many good NBA players on our roster. Not great, but pretty good. Hawks want future draft picks and\or young,
underused players who just need to be coached up and to be given playing time and a chance.

Trade deadline -- Hurry up and wait!

You can actual get something of value back for Dedmon. Plumlee gets you nothing, in fact you may have to include an asset to entice a team to take him.

Is it too early to call the winner on this bet/trade?

No quite over yet. I don't believe any of the bs going on with the Cavs I'm sorry I just don't. It's a slow time of year. The Cavs are still a veteran club and will most likely still make it out of the pathetic east. The NBA loves fake news.

Philly and Phoenix have too many draft picks.

If we get #1, 2 or 3...are we willing to trade back with the Suns at 5-7 (on draft night) for all of their first round picks?

We could restock the roster in a single draft and still get a franchise talent plus extras.

Ultimately, in this draft--which is more valuable: The #1 overall pick or selections 5, 16 & 22?

I'd trade #1 for #5,16 and 22. We found Prince at 12 and Collins at 19....yes, I personally would do it.

If we get #5, #16, #22, #25 and #29...we could be in position to take all of your faves this year:

Wendall Carter, Mikal Bridges and Miles Bridges.

Under this GM (who prides himself on his draft ability), this seems like it'd be too enticing to pass up in a deep draft.

Oh man...5 picks in round 1? Lol...has that happened before where a team keeps all 5? Yes definitely though because when you look at it, the top 5 guys are bunched together very closely so it could be a hit or miss...this way it gives us several shots and landing the right guy or guys vs putting all our eggs in one basket.

1. Doncic
2. Ayton
3. Bagley
4. Young
5. Bamba
6. Porter jr.

We would still land one of these guys...then at the very least we have some options and flexibility.

It would be interesting and a move I can easily see them making. Pop/Bud/Spurs love to move back in a draft and still find the guys they initially wanted anyways it seems.

I wish I had the time to watch college ball so I can see what my lying eyes tell me. If 1-3 is our guy, get the guy. If the guy we want is slotted lower then I take no issue with trading out. Hooowever.......
By all accounts, picks 1-3, are your potential franchise changers (hopefully). I would hate to look back and realized we missed on our guy.
Philly traded #1 for #3 and another potential top 6, so I think #1 for #5 plus 16, 22 in an even better draft is not enough value. (I guess we can combine 16 and 22 and move up)
How about trading the Cavs 2019 pick (I think we can add addt'l protections).

I'm not trading a top 3 pick. Not unless we think Young will fall to #5 then i'm ok with it.

Flipping 16 and 22 to move up would be pretty awesome. I know you said you don't watch college Jbird but from what I think I know about guys that you seem to value...there's 1 guy that immediately pops up and that's Mikal Bridges. Moving up with 16 and 22 for #8-10 and having scooped up a top 6 guy already would be fabulous.

I'm fine coming away with one of Young/Bamba/Porter and adding Mikal Bridges at #8-10...

I also hear you Bird on missing out. We are a team that can't miss on superstar draft talent anymore...had a couple huge hiccups with Marvin and Shelden a decade ago...we can't miss again...please.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. And (pending medical clearance) I still have his former AAU teammate (M Porter, Jr.) rated as one of the best in this draft class.

Porter was my pick at #1 before the injury. If he makes it back this season and looks like himself AND is cleared by NBA physicians, I would be fine with getting him. But right now, Ayton looks like a potential franchise cornerstone. I'm also high on Young since I think ATL needs an exciting player to bring the casual fans to the game. Wherever we Draft, I hope Schlenk goes BPA instead of looking for a prospect that fits the roster or the system. The Hawks need a superstar, period.

Agree on everything. BPA is always the best way to go specially with us needing a superstar on the Hawks and not having any luck in free agency. There's also a ton of guys to love in this draft, I know you hear that in a lot of drafts before they happen but I really think this is a solid one. Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Young, Porter, Bamba, Bridges's n more.

I'd do it. We'd basically be buying the first rounder in exchange for taking on Leonard's bad contract, a case of trading cap for a first (like last year when we took on Jamal Crawford to get the Houston first).

Tbh I think coach Bud can actually increase Leonard's value in the system as well.

Pass for me because Leonard is signed two more years after this year. I think we are trying to remain as flexible as we can moving forward.
