Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
Who do we consider trading to get into the top ten. I'm not trading draft capital from the 2023 and 2024 class for this one. Collins likely needed to move the needle while resetting long term salary for Murray.
I think the name of the game is defensive versatility considering how bad the team is constructed with its current archetypes. I would go bpa current 1st rd pick either way great defender or offense.
2nd rd for me is pure defense/rebounding. I really like a few guys that should be available with good size.
Jake Lavaria - really goes after it on the defensive end, particularly in transition where the Hawks show little resistance.

Josh Minott - good athlete especially for size. Really need wings to take some responsibility from Hunter on defense and good con tester of 3 point shooters. A lob threat from a perimeter position is a strong plus.

Gabe Brown - 6-8 and athletic left hander. Seems more 3 rather than D sf.

Would not trade up for any PF. Only two guys I’d trade up for are Johnny Davis and Bennedict Mathurin. (Depending on price of course) Maybe Sharpe but hard since he hasn’t played since HS.

Nah, we are past that stage. Give me a disgruntled star whose team just got bounced in the playoffs. And NO, NOT KLAY, he’s done.
No more top 10 picks. We gotta build like a championship team around Trae.

Like Sekou Dombouya? Ya, I think I’ll nap on him.

- Keegan Murray is in the same timeline as Trae, Huerter and Okongwu.
- Getting young players who can contribute immediately extends our timeline and potentially frees up cap space.
- We are nowhere near a championship. I expect pretty big roster changes to our 9th place team this summer.

Fair enough.

Hold up, same timeline. Keegan Murray hasn’t played a single second in the league. Timeline isn’t about age, often times it’s experience.
I do agree that young players free up cap space but you know what, why are we playing this vicious circle of freeing up space. We are one player away.
Disagree about not being close. We were a top 4 team in the league last year, overachievers or not we were there. We have Trae. We need to go for it now to keep him. No more high picks for me.
Let’s just win.

The Dombou comment was near the belt.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
I think the decision tree for draft picks moving forward is simple.
A). Can the pick be packaged for a 2nd star who fits well with a small, ball-dominant PG?
Yes --> Then do that.
No --> See B.
B). Do they project as a switchable defender?
Yes --> See C.
No --> Then don't take them.
C). Are they the highest upside player?
Yes --> Then take them.
No --> Then don't take them.

Dang it. I do like silent assassins though. Tim Duncan, Kawhi quiet, that’s confidence. Get us this kid!!!
I wish this was a loud mouth prospect you sent Jamal but no, it has to be a spud prototype, ok I gotta rethink everything.

Re: 2022 NBA Draft Thread
I'm starting to single out Daniels. He's a top tier point of attack defender of this draft. If he measures out solid he'll shoot up for sure. I do agree his bust factor is fairly high, similar to Knox with that aspect to his floor and ceiling.
I mean he comes in just as raw to JJ and Coop, I rank him very close with the ceiling of those two. He could guard 1-3 seamlessly.

Same, especially after he referenced Alex Caruso as the player he models his game on. I think it's a great sign he understands his projectable skills.

I hadn't seen much on this kid, but his size and profile are really enticing...and he is projected to be picked in the 12-18 range of the draft.
Bleacher ReportDyson Daniels (G League Ignite, PG/SG, 2003)
The idea of Daniels remains enticing: an 18-year-old, 6'6" combo guard and ball-handler who can defend wings and rack up steals. But he's still far from a shooter (25.3 percent 3PT), and he seems more like a secondary playmaker than a lead decision-maker running the point. Still, his age, tools, skill set and experience create a first-round case, particularly for a team willing to wait on results.
