Bagley at #7 seems reasonable, no?

With his collegiate production and athleticism, getting him after #5 is a worthy gamble.

I don't think so. I'd be fine with giving Young a shot if we fall to 7-8 (don't tell @macd I said that.). On Bags, I'd prefer to see if we can jedi mind trick somebody and trade down. If not, just get the Bridges kid at that point in the draft.

I'm not even sure what we're talking about anymore.

I also don't want US to grab Bagley. But he clearly has more upside for other bad teams than Wendell, Knox or the Bridges Brothers (don't tell Spud I @spud2 that).

Getting multiple lottery picks is absolutely a worthy approach at this stage in our rebuild: asset acquisition.

I think we're basically saying the same thing. Clearly the bad teams can use a guy like Bagley thus, if we're that low, I hope we can acquire multiple lotto picks via trading down somehow.

Clippers would be our best trade partners for such a scenario.

If we fall outta the top-six, then we trade #7, #34 + Bembry for #12 & #14?

Actually...the fan base would be hella p!ssed irate after a move like that, unless we got 2 steals in the late lottery.

Trav is in attendance watching a few guys.

Miles looks...solid early.

JJJ has yet to make a huge, tangible impact.

The Hawks like big men who can shoot?
What an outrageous statement.

Mock Draft from Fansided
30. Killian Tillie
F, Gonzaga

The Hawks will always ask their big men to shoot. We’ve seen it this season with Dewayne Dedmon and John Collins, two guys who even five seasons ago would never have been asked by any NBA team to shoot 3s. Tillie doesn’t need to be asked.

He has made 43 percent of his 99 3-point attempts at Gonzaga, becoming an elite pick-and-pop weapon as his role has increased. In addition to his deep-ball proficiency, Tillie is a 77 percent free-throw shooter who can move his feet on both ends surprisingly well. He knows where to be to get open on offense, and can attack overly aggressive defense on the perimeter.

The Hawks aren’t in a position to be worrying about how to hide a stretch-4 on defense, but Tillie has the agility to one day survive on that end defending bigger players. Maybe Hawks U has moved from the wing to the frontcourt.

1. Luka Doncic
G, Real Madrid

There is plenty of room for Doncic.

After so many success stories on the wing (from Kent Bazemore to Tim Hardaway to DeMarre Carroll) the position suddenly has an opening for the Hawks. Doncic could slide in and devastate from the jump. He is a great prospect in part because he could fit into any situation — as more of a shooter, a secondary distributor or pure scorer depending on situation.

The appeal of Doncic landing in Atlanta is that he could do a little of everything. Nearly every Hawk can stretch the floor; most are smart passers. Doncic could fill in the gaps while maintaining the freedom to try things and develop.

Atlanta has a smart coaching staff that pushes players to try new things. Doncic needs to become a more efficient shooter and develop his athleticism, and it’s hard to imagine a better place for him to work.

 it's the new NBA, either adapt or get left behind. Or you have to be Rudy Gobert on defense.

Not loving his movement or handles. Jump shot looked funky and not too confident. I dunno that’s what my eyes tell me. He looks like a Diamond Stone.

The MIN pick is becoming increasingly volatile. There's a fine line between an ideal scenario and a disaster of having to put it off until next year. This draft looks a lot stronger than next year's.

Wendell Carter intrigues me. I look forward to seeing how he does at the NBA level and his potential. I didn't know he was shooting 3-pointers at that high of a rate.

Yeah, Carter has a really good all around game. That three point shot has developed incredibly well.

The only flaw is the lack of elite athleticism. Which is why he isn't a top-5 option in this draft.

It's starting to feel like instead of choosing between Ayton and Doncic, we'll be choosing between Bagley, Trae and Porter.

Not terrible consolation prizes, all things considered.

Bagley is super raw, but he's productive. He's stated he's modeling his game after Giannis, and that might be the style best suited for him -- oversized SF with a solid handle and hops out of the gym.

I still don't believe he and J Collins would be natural fits together. But Bagley has a higher ceiling and is young enough to mold into a different role, whether it be Center, PF or super sized wing player.

Can we force all the other teams to draft a bunch-a 6'7" centers for Bags to feast on too? I'm just kidding. Really.

But the point you make is sorta why I'm not overly upset about these games we're winning. Even if we land at 5-7, we'll be fine.

Not over yet Jamal...18 games to go and I have ya winning 2....both home games to the Bulls and Magic to finish at 22-60...that should firmly plant us at 1-3 worst teams. Then of course, the Ernest and Young lottery (ya right) has to take place...

I’m not giving up hope on a top 2 pick...I can’t ...we are in too deep...we’ve been the worst team throughout the year...let’s finish weak!
