Just say it's great to see the guys playing well and building for our future. You don't have to say 'we aren't taking and I'm happy to be winning games' because neither is true and it's an insult to my intelligence. Which is QUITE an insult.

^Thoughtful. Well stated.

Pure bunk.

But I respect his approach to talking it out with players.

(I don't for one second believe we're not actively shopping our expiring vets, though.)

Oh ho ho, so the worm has turned. You don't believe it so it's "bunk"?

I think it's perfectly reasonable for him to say we're not "shopping" our guys. He says plainly that "teams know where we are ..."

In our situation, we don't have to "shop" them. Also, I don't think communicating with players' and agents is just his approach. It's the approach of any good GM IIUC.

^I can't tell if these are rhetorical questions.

I have faith in Trav to make the necessary, difficult decisions.

Not actively pursuing assets we covet would be foolish. Travis Schlenk doesn't strike me as a fool.

So if Schlenk doesn't make a move/unable to make a mive, will it be Bud's fault for wanting to keep 'his guys?' 8-)

It's a bad trade market to be a seller. Especially a seller of what we have. Marco and Ersan will probably get bought out. Not sure about Dedmon. Baze is expensive for contenders who are already capped out.

But to answer your question, i think it's clear that Bud isn't going to have the final say on personnel moves. If anyone thinks Travis won't move a guy over Bud's objections then they haven't really been listening to what Travis has had to say these last 8 months.

"And then the next day Bud and I sat down for three or four hours and just talked about different things. And really, I kind of knew in my mind what I wanted to do with this. I would just sit back and have conversations. But we kind of channeled the conversations in the direction I wanted to. And he knew."

Budenholzer still argued for keeping Millsap, the Hawks’ remaining All-Star and his best all-around player last season. "But I would just constantly say, ‘listen. You guys won (43) games. You want to win (43) games again?’"

Oh, I agree, but someone will blame Bud.

Well it didn't work out too well for the guy who said this either
When we have a set of players that can carry us deep, that's the only way, that's the only way to get where we're going.

Please let CLEV decide to go all in. We take bad contracts and Brook first. Another top 10 pick would make this season worthwhile

:D

Because he was held out, we feel that Belinelli may be gone by 3 PM Thursday.

As we come up to the deadline, think of it this way. You go to the big, super store, shopping, with money.
You ask yourself, what do I need? What is here that I really, really want? Is there something here that I feel
that I just can't do without?

What the heck! I may just keep my money. I like my money more than I like what they have for sale.

Sure, Hawks have assets. Good players that others may desire. But, the question is, do these other teams
have something that the Hawks would rather have than what they already process? After all, we're not
having a fire sale where everything must go! Make us an offer! Clearance!

She was referring to me.

But you are correct, mac. This is Travis's show. He gets all the credit or all the blame for everything that's occurred since he was hired.

It's his show. And by all accounts, he's prepared to ship out any and everyone brought in by the previous regime.

...whether it be now or later.

This is my hope too. Draft Doncic and Young and LTMF. I can suffer through a couple years of 130-125 games.

Doncic AND Young?!?

My word, that's ambitious.

I'm still driving that Trae / Michael Porter Jr train. There's your 'Splash Brothers' remake right there.

I'll take it. But the Cavs trade that pick? I'm just not seeing it given that all news out of Cleveland is that Lebron is done there. Unless he buys the team.

AGREED. It'll have to be one of the PHX, MEM, CHI, Lakers pick we pursue.

AND EVEN THEN IT'S A SUPER LONG SHOT.

(Get #1, trade back for multiple picks. Select Trae at #4, then trade back into the top 7 for Porter.)

But man, a lineup of:

Trae Young
M Porter Jr
Taurean
J Collins would be damn fun to watch.

I would snag Ayton and then take the best of Doncic, Trae or Sexton

Ayton
Collins
Prince
Doncic or Trae

If TS / Bud don't like Shro, would you take a pick after 10 for him?

If we can avoid getting a bad contract in return (and the pick is still in the lottery), probably.

We're just building from scratch at this point.
