Indeed. It always bothers me when I here there is no place in today's league for old school big men.

There is, coaches just need to adjust -- I also believe some talented players just need more time. Okafor would have benefited from more years in college.

And coming into the league a more complete player.

I agree with this sentiment very much but will play devil’s advocate. Why couldn’t a team like the Pelicans make it work with Davis n Boogie with a good coach like Alvin Gentry? I’m honestly wondering. Or do you need one predominant big?

If I recall, NOP was a playoff contender with Boogie and the Brow Manning the front court. Then Boogie got hurt, Mirotic came in and filled in more effectively with AD at center and Mirotic spacing the floor.

Okafor has a ton of the same strengths/weaknesses as Collins. He just needs a more wide open system to succeed in. And a team filled with shooters around him.

Yes I think they were a playoff contender but I’m not sure they would have successfully contended had they remained healthy. I’m still waiting on a team to bring back a formidable twin tower set like the Rockets of the 80’s and Spurs of the last couple decades.

3/4 losses with Jah being a combined -41. Reminds me too much of his rookie season where he feasted but in meaningless games. He's refined his old moves but hasn't expanded his game a bit. Still best suited as a bench change of pace post-scorer a la the Jeffersons and Monroes of yorn. His positive impacts have been lessened by being forced into starters minutes due to a decimated Pelicans frontcourt.

+/- doesn't tell the real story. He is playing much better on offense and defense this go around. He is starting we are know there is a massive gap between AD, top 3-5 player and Oakfor and the Pels just don't have the overall talent to make up for it. But he is definitely playing much better ball this go around. Not just empty regression numbers

I agree. Boogie injury happened right when they started to figure each other out like Westbrook and PG13

Nice article about Marc Gasols first game with Raptors and how excited he is to be on the team.

He fills so many critical needs for them. They don’t have a lot of time to figure out how to play together but I’m really interested to see what they can make happen

This is the last summit for us to climb this season, getting a win against the big three of the conference in a game they actually want to win.

Might losing to us be enough to get Luke Walton fired?

Truth!!!
And it's just not foul calling.
Between the KD running out of bounds with the ball, the Bradley Beal run around the world. Even our game last night - where was the lane violation on LBJ on the Huerter free throw or the idiot Laker that raised their hands to distract Huerter as soon as je released the ball.
